Yeah for sure. I felt like I had more energy so upped the reps and the 150kg definately went up quicker. Im starting to do more cardio work ,running and swimming, which im hoping wont take away from my strength training. Did a sea swim and my shoulders are feeling looser, so hopefully it will help with fleabillity.

Awesome that it's coming together. I always love taking a weight I did a slow single with and bang it out faster. Because my progress is pretty slow and steady, it always makes me feel like I'm achieving something!

Monday's sesh:

Now that Ive started beach lifeguarding Im doing a lot of cardio as I previously mentioned. This is good but it does leave me feeling pretty tired after work and so todays gym sesh felt really hard!

Deadlifts:

Warm up: 60kg x 6 and 100kg x 4

160kg x 3

170kg x 3

180kg x 2

190kg x 1

Struggled with the last one. My supervisor made everyone working at sennen beach turn up at 8am to do a beach run with hill sprints incorporated which was pretty savage. My legs were feeling done in but I went for the deads anyway and tried to embrace the pain!!

Bench:

warm up bar x 10 and 60kg x 6

80kg x 6

90kg x 5

90kg x 5

95kg x 3

100kg x 2

105kg x 1

110kg x 1

Was feeling fairly strong on the bench today, could have maybe gone higher.
That was it for today.

Wednesday:

Back squatts:

warm up bar x 6 and 60kg x 4

100kg x 3

2 sets of 130kg x 3

2 sets of 135kg x 3

2 sets of 140kg x 3

Clean and push press:

warm up bar x 10

60kg x 5

80kg x 3 (thought Id put 70 on!)

85kg x 3

Failed on the clean on 90kg so went down to 80kg and did 3 cleans without the press. My left shoulder was hurting a little bit but did some shoulder pressing with dumbells anyway:

25kg x 6

2 sets of 30kg x 4

Called it a day, but might go in tommorrow and do some front squatting.

Thanks mate, felt pretty tough on the last 3. Really want to up my max so hitting the squatting hard!

I havnt done much strict pressing, which I should really start doing. I can strict press 60kg fairy easy. In fact I will start doing this as it will imrove my log lifting, and I will answer this question!

Friday:

Went for an hour long surf after work and then hit the gym. Was feeling a bit tired so only did deadlifts today. I will go back in tommorrow and do some benching and maybe front squatts.

Deads:

warm up bar x 10 then 60kg x 4 and 100kg x 3

2 sets of 160kg x 3

2 sets of 165kg x 3

170kg x 3

180kg x 1

The last singal felt heavy today.

Monday:

Front squatts:

Warm up 60kg x 6

2 sets of 100kg x 3

2 sets of 105kg x 3

2 sets of 110kg x 3

These felt pretty good, the last three were quite tough but not too bad.

Bench press:

Bar x 10 and 60kg x 6

80kg x 6

90kg x 5

90kg x 4

3 sets of 95 kg x 3

Did some strict pressing but my arms and were pretty tired from the bench.

Strict press:

50kg x 3

55kg x 3

60kg x 3

I finished off with some grip training by holding 180kg on an olympic bar for 3 sets of 30 second stints in prep for the van lift and hold at the bulldog.

Tuesday:

Did som dune runs for 20 mins to get a bit of cardio in.

Also did an ab work out for about 20 mins and then some bicep work.

Bicep curls:

2 sets of 15kg x 10 with dumbells

3 sets of 45kg x 5 with a bar

Thurs:

Deadlifts:

Good warm up with the bar then 60kg and 100kg for several reps plus a few stetches.

180kg x 1

190kg x 1

195kg x 1

180kg x 1

The 195 felt hard. The weights at the gym Ive just joined are 12 sided meaning you cant roll the bar towards you before lifting which I normally do. I think this is messing a little with my technique as Im not close enough to the bar. Also this gym is on the first floor and has wooden floors which dont feel as solid as concrete which I think may also make a slight difference.

Strict press:

Warm up with bar

2 sets of 50kg x 6

2 sets of 55kg x 6

60kg x 5

65kg x 5 (push press)

Couldnt get the 65 up so had to use the legs. Really need to work on this exercise if I want to get any reps out of the 95kg log at the bulldog bash! I can push press 90kg for one,but Im hoping strict pressing will improve this.

Dumbell chest press:

35kg x 5

2 sets of 40kg x 3

Friday:

Missed wednesdays session so ended up doing two days in a row which is not good. Had a swim and short surf today after work and then went to the gym.

Bench:

3 sets of 80kg x 6

3 sets of 85kg x 6

Back Squatt:

100 kg x 6

105kg x 6

110kg x 6

120kg x 6 (Not as deep as I would have liked so its not an official best)

The gym work hasnt been as much as I'd hoped due to work commitments etc. I did thur/fri last week and that was it. This was because I had a swim test on tues so rested monday. I then failed the swim test and had to retake it thurs, which I passed.

Thur:

Deadlifts:

Warm up

180kg x 1

190kg x 1

200kg x 1 (Got half way and failed)

190kg x 1

180kg x 1

170kg x 1

Strict press:

Warm up

2 sets of 50kg x 3

2 sets of 55kg x 3

60kg x 3

65kg x 3

The 65kg felt ok, I could prbably lift heavier so this has defo improved since I satrted.

Friday:

Bench press

warm up

3 sets of 100kg x 2

2 sets of 95kg x 3

80kg x 10

Bicep curls:

With dumbells:

3 sets of 22kg x 5
