Didn't have my intra workout drink today and the rest pause sets took a direct hit. Other lifts were ok though. That'll teach me for forgetting my shaker.

KFC last night and rubbish food this morning because I didn't get myself organised really.

Changed my form, heard someone mention about making sure the forearms are parallel to each other and 90 degrees to the bar directly under the hand. I remember this wasn't the case in a video I saw a while back so I've moved my hands in an inch (so pinkys one inch of the inside of rings). I also set my legs wider as I watched a video which said the knees should be below hips for good leg drive and spreading them wide is one way for some people to do that, so I gave that a go and arched my back hard.

Bench: 80kg x 1, 90kg x 1,
95kg x 1 [PB], 97.5kg x 1 [5kg PB] - Had a spotter with these two, he assured me he didn't touch them and I didn't feel anything weird going on so I'll take them. Both paused.
100kg x 1 (assisted) - This one was helped along but was happy to take it out confidently and lower it under control.
80kg x 2

CGBP: 60kg x 8, 4, 2 [RestPause]
DB Press, Seated: 17.5kg x 5, 5, 2 [RestPause]
Pullups: 5, 3, 2
DB Row: 20kg x 5, 25kg x 8, 5, 5, 5, 5
Hammer Curls/Concentration Curls and Face Pulls.

RDL: 60kg x 8, 8 - Can't really feel these, stuck my ass out and stood on a 6 inch block and lower the bar to the floor and still didn't feel much hamstrings.
Lying Leg curls (single leg).

Press day.
Strict: 50kg x 2, 60kg x 1, 65kg x 1 [+2.5kg PB] - Widened my grip a touch, it is now the same width as my bench, that seemed to suit me. The mid-way grind wasn't as difficult as previous maxes.
Push Press: 55kg x 5 doubles
DB Press: 17.5kg x 8, 5, 3, 2 [RestPause]
Dips: 15, 5, 5, 3 [RestPause]
Neutral Grip Pullups: 10, 6
T-Bar: 55kg x 8, 8

Another good session.

A little write up.

Didn’t have the best night’s sleep beforehand, which was expected. I took too much food with me, still can’t really stomach anything once warm up started until the last deadlift drops. I woke up just a touch over 83kg, so I figured I’d skip breakfast and compete in the morning at 83kg (if I was over, I'd be with the big guys starting around 4pm). Stepped on the scale on the dot, tucked into some bacon and eggs, spoon of rice, whole milk, coffee. After that I just had a spoon of rice occasionally and Soreen with butter between attempts but again, stomach didn’t really want it. Mostly fuelled on my intra workout drink with added creapure.

I started warming up for the squat a bit too early and my lower back is still giving me a bit of trouble. Opted to drop my opener by 5kg after speaking with the guy who was warming up with me. That’s one lesson, whatever I think I can triple in the gym and would make a good opener... drop it even more to account for nerves and dodgy belly. I then just went in 10kg jumps.

The second bench felt tough, and either that or the third I had to fight my wrists wanting to bend over so I might get some wrist wraps for comps.

Deadlift, I probably could have gone a bit higher (I nearly told the guy to load up 187.5kg, must stop second guessing myself!). But that’s the hardest thing I'm finding with comp, judging how the lift feels and making the right amount of jump to increase my total but not miss the weight.

Overall, I'm happy to have added 45kg to my total and all those lifts are comp PBs and the Deadlift is all time PB. I don’t know what position I came, I've emailed the organiser just out of curiosity but some strong lifters there. Next one is in February. I’ll be making my second lifts 2.5kg above what I did today, make the opener as low as I can whilst still being able to make the jump to second and that way I’ll nail a small comp PB by lift 2 so can go for broke on the third. Really good day overall though, enjoyed myself and met a good bunch of lifters in my category. Went to Miller and Carter afterwards for a well earned Steak and Guinness!

Finally managed to export the video, software kept crashing :/
