Trained with big Steve in his gaff today. Bench only this close to the British. Full width grip today.
Bar for 20
60 for 6
80 for 4
100 for 2
110 for 1
120 for 1
130 for 1
140 for 1 - yes!
Then played around with 2 shirts, found I could touch and press 155 in the Rage X, and easily press 160 in the SK but couldn't touch. Think that's my opener sorted for next weekend but where we go from there, and in what, remains a mystery.
Planning a couple more testers in the SK on Monday...

A bit fatigued today, had hoped for 130 plus thin blue band.

Bench, everything pinkie grip

Bar for 20 then thin blue band on
40 for 8
60 for 6
80 for 4
90 for 2
100 for 1
110 for 1
120 for 1
Finish.

Everything nice and easy up to and including the 110, but the 120 was a bit of an effort and the shoulder creaked a bit so I left it there. The time for fighting is next Saturday, not today.

Trained with big Steve today in my garage.

Bench
Bar for 10 x 2 sets
60 for 6
80 for 4
100 for 2
120 for 1
130 for 1
140 for 1
46 SK on
160 for 1 - 4 inches
160 for 1 - 2 inches
160 no board, couldn't touch, easy press
Shirt off, thick blue band on
60 for 3
80 for 1
90 for 1
100 for 1
110 for 1 - 5Kg comeback pb
Blue band off, red band on
60 for 3
80 for 1
100 for 1
110 for 1
120 for 1 - 5Kg comeback pb
Finish.

Hope I haven't worked so hard that I won't recover for tomorrow. Good raw and band session, confusing shirt session, no more shirt work before Sunday and I honestly haven't got a clue what I'm going to do. But the good news is that I'm definitely getting stronger. The great news is the forearm hurt less today than it has in ages. Could the end of injury be in sight.

No telly today, much better training to AC/DC than to Escape to the Country and Tipping Point.

For the past couple of weeks I've been training with videos from the 2016 IPF Classic on in the background...probably be a bit weird if you did that, though. Happy

Bit of manflu, wanted to check how much it affected my strength, no big sessions so close to the British, just keeping everything ticking over, bench only. Apart from the empty bar, everything with a thin blue band and full width grip, having found a way to use the safety racks at full width.

Bar for 20 then thin blue band on
40 for 8
60 for 6
80 for 4
100 for 2
110 for 1
120 for 1
130 - fail, thank goodness for safety racks
Finish.

130 would have been a comeback pb, but not to be, got it half way and then it stuck. No pb with manflu not an awful result I suppose, but the 120 was really easy. I go again tomorrow morning, a few raw triples, osteopath in the afternoon and that's me as ready as I can be for the British. Still wish it was in February...

Last session before the British, with a stinking cold, feeling really lousy.

Bar for 20
60 for 6
80 for 3
100 for 3
110 for 3
120 for 3
130 for 1
Finish.

Had hoped for at least a double with 130, but not feeling like this. Felt sick and shaky when I finished. And it was after a misload where I only added 5 to one side! Ah well, better a good performance than a good dress rehearsal. Not ready by a long way, but I can do no more.

Look forward to meeting lots of friends on Saturday and Sunday.

Did OK but not great at the British Bench, as you would expect from the lead up.

In the Classic on Saturday I went 120, 130 and failed 142.5 and was runner up. Winner sadly tore a pec in the process of beating me and had to withdraw from the equipped.

In the Equipped I warmed up to an easy 150 to 1 inch, then opened 155. Harder than I expected so went to 160 second lift and just got it but right on my limit so passed on third attempt. Bit scary to open so close to my limit, but any less wouldn't have touched. Both lifts flew off the chest, but my triceps power is almost non existent. I know what I have to do.

Today, trained for the first time since getting home. Just bench, a quick run through the gears.

Bar for 10, then thick blue band on
40 for 5
60 for 3
70 for 3
80 for 2
90 for 1
100 for 1
105 for 1
90 for 3 x 3 sets
Finish.

5 Kg below my comeback pb, but quite an acceptable number all thing considered. Still shattered after all the travelling, the back to back competitions and yesterday's dog traumas.

I might well work a bit harder tomorrow...

First of two planned sessions today

Bench

Bar for 10 then red band on
40 for 5
60 for 3
70 for 3
80 for 2
90 for 1
100 for 1
110 for 1
115 for 1
100 for 3 x 3 sets
Finish

As yesterday, on my limit 5Kg below my comeback pb.

I have some prospective powerlifters calling round this evening for a chat, and I plan to get back into seated rows before they arrive. Things may be about to get notched up a gear or two...

Did a bit of impromptu deadlift coaching last night and managed to fit in a mini session myself.
60 for 3
90 for 2
110 for 1
130 for 1
140 for 1
150 for 1
Finish.
150 was much easier than last time. Happy Happy with that.

Sunday Training

Started doing the stuff I haven't been doing but need to be doing.

Incline Bench
Bar for 10
30 for 8
40 for 6
50 for 4
60 for 2
70 for 1
80 for 1
65 for 3 x 3 sets

Lat Pulldowns
50 for 10 x 5 sets

Dumbell Shoulder Press
12.5 per hand for 10 x 5 sets

Dumbell Curls
12.5 per hand for 10 x 5 sets

Finish.

Crazy how such light weights feel so heavy but I need to start somewhere and that somewhere was today. Weak as piss overhead, but great to be able to do the movement again after so long. Determined not to pull anything by trying too much too soon so left my ego at the door.

Thanks, lovely to be able to do them again. Shoulder put paid to the first three and trapped nerve the curls until recently. They will all be regular now, as well as seated rows, triceps work and, of course, deadlifts.

I trained at 6 tonight after a two hour dog walk and a coaching session with a new lifter. Hadn't eaten enough and was pretty fatigued so didn't expect much and wasn't disappointed! Trained with another new lifter who shows great promise. Bench only for various reasons, mostly fatigue and recovery, but I plan to do bench and deadlift tomorrow.

Bar for 10
40 for 8
60 for 6
80 for 4
100 for 2
120 for 1
130 for 1
135 for 1 - right on my limit
120 for 3 x 3 sets - right on my limit with these as well.

Hopefully tomorrow I'll feel stronger and lift more. Happy
