This fascinates me. It makes sense to me as well. I have a lot of time for your approach for training, your mantra of 'simple training with complex understanding' hit the nail on the head for me.

Thanks; it makes most sense. I see some very, very complex porgrammes but the author has minimal understanding of what programming is... I believe you must know why to truly improve

Thanks for this mate - pretty damn informative!
This is your protocol for whether its before squats, deads or bench?
I've been wondering if rolling before squatting is good or not (for me anyhow) for quite a while now

I do it on all sessions, you would be surprised how much torque can go into where you wouldn't expect; like the knees when benching for example.

Not sure I know what you mean by "lifting 'within yourself' will take longer to recover".

Basically just saying that still training (although steady) may take you longer to recover, but the recovery is usually more substantial.... you recover to the need. If the need is simply sofa surfing, the injury will usually resurface; actin/myosin bonding is correlated to its requirement

Todays session:

Squat:

Bar x 5
100 x 2
140 x 2
180 x 2
200 x 2
200 x 2
220 x 2
240 x 2
270 x 1 (video)

Should be 5x2x200; but peer pressure got the better of me. That said, volume was still similar and the final set felt far from maximal, although it did highlight my s**tty core stability; unracking and walking back was harder than the squat which does not help my mental game.

SLDL:
100x5
140x5
140x5
140x5 - In the sake of the 'easy' week

Power shrug:
3x7x100 - very easy

Plank:
just a minute or so; I have found it prevent sciatica flair ups when done post squat/dead.

Summary - For those that have followed my posts prior in Training & Videos know that I train in components; except building to a comp. Training format is the same, but a surge of improvement comes from practicing the classical lifts (beginner effect!) and from learning to bridge start strength and explosive strength...allowing for expression of maximal potential on the platform.

Lol thanks mate...we have two different views on speed! I look at that in disgust at how sluggish and squeezy it looks! I have a dedicated 6 week explosive and peaking phase now... Look forwards to comparing the same lift

Todays Session:

Single 'Repboard' press:

60
140
160 x 2
160 x 2
160 x 2
160 x 2
160 x 2
210 x 1 (in vid)

Classic Bench Press:

190 touch and go (in vid)
200 paused (in vid)
205 paused - (in vid) lifetime paused pb; and felt like a pb too!

Dumbell Press:

3x8 light; almost therapeutic

Bent over rows:
100
140 x 5
140 x 5
140 x 5 - all flat back rigid form.

Relatively happy with today; pretty damned fatigue...before training, given this and a weird grip to compensate for missing skin; I'm reasonably happy with the pb, but need to work on bridging the start strength with explosive strength with more paused work.

In which weight class will you compete in the GBPF?

I'm 100kg bang on in a morning, so I would lift in the 93's.
I can reduce carbs and maintain the SAME net calorie intake and drop weight really, really easy but have to reduce tonnage while doing so to prevent general malaise and fatigue.

I can lose 3-4kg just from water loading alone (even more if I weight first thing) so have no concerns in getting to 93kg with minimal if any loss in output; but training would take a temporary lul.
