I now have a rather impressive scab on my left hamstring courtesy of the catcher rack on Monday.

In better news the corn on my little toe has been razored out and quality of life has risen considerably

I am considering purchasing shoes from vivobarefoot.com. If anyone has or has had any I would be interested in your thoughts

I have a couple of pairs Mr Pete.

As a shoe to squat and deadlift in, they are very good as they sport a super thin, grippy sole that is completely flat.

Mine fit large though (normally a 10, but could get away with 9.5 or even a 9 in these).

This is the reason I don't wear them a lot as my feet move around a little too much when playing with the heavy weights (I bought them off eBay 2nd hand so didn't get to try them on first)

I was actually considering getting a correctly sized pair only last week...

Shoulder still giving trouble though maybe not quite so much. The first of the 100s wasn't good and my head lifted very slightly at the start of the first few descents, same again on the first only of the second set and after that it was fine. They also seemed to get quite a bit easier as I went on. Last one was paused on the five top sets.

Dave is benching as well, his last shirted session before his comp and he really did very well. I helped out with the shirt and general handing off etc. I considered doing some close grips afterwards but decided not to bother. They would have been light and it was probably better to give the shoulder no more grief. f**king injuries, Bah !

Thanks for that. I don't intend training in them but will wear them for general, everyday use. It is the thin sole that is the concern, they advertise them as hiking boots so they should be ok, but how are they on an uneven surface ? Say a gravel car park, can you feel the chippings through the soles?

The only similar things I have ever worn are my deadlift slippers, which are actually a deck shoe, and they really aren't suitable for outdoor use. This has put doubt in my mind, but as I say, if you can hike in the buggers they should be ok.

Shoulder a little better and all went quite well tonight, Sunday training moves to Saturday this week as I am reffing on Sunday. I begrudge miss about four hours on the couch tomorrow afternoon, but that aside I am quite looking forward to this little lot.

One drawback is that as I was leaving work this afternoon, the crown on one of my teeth fell off. I rang for an appointment and I am able to have it (hopefully) replaced on Monday. I have only had the bugger about three years or so and this the second time it has fell off. Bugger !

On the plus side I have won twenty five quid on the premium bonds, hundred grand would have been better, but mustn't get greedy.

Mr Pete,

Have you considered using lifting straps to hold the bar whilst squatting in order to allow your shoulders to recover?

Don't fall for it Mr Pete, he just wants to be able to get in 20 minutes before you do and turn on all the lights!

Just me and Aaron today, went to the Spinners for some nosebag afterwards and on returning to the club found that there were cars parked and lights on. It turns out that Tess, Euan and Jamie had arrived only minutes after we left and were all deadlifting. I stayed to mither them for a bit and then away

I am a scary mug regardless of the tooth, happily it is a rear molar so if I didn't tell you, you would never know

I have done this in the past and it does change the feel of the lift rather more than I like. So I go by the principle that if I can manage then I will manage and so far I can.

Thanks for the suggestion though

I appreciate the warning but Aaron could train on the surface of the sun and still want more light.

I did mention that I was training with the lights off and the window open. On his arrival Aaron switched on the lights as it was too dark and closed the window as it was too cold, even though there was no heating on and the same temperature inside the club as outside.

He finished benching before I did and went into the other room to do some pulldowns, I decided that as he was no longer in the main room I would go and turn the lights off, you have to walk through the pulldown room to do this and guess what ? He hadn't bothered to switch the lights on in that room. So too dark to bench but not too dark to pulldown. He's having a giraffe as the cockneys say

Happy Happy Happy Happy
