Yes sir you got it! My vehicles are used by my family often. They do not get the fact that 8 people up on a steep hill in long rush hour hot outside temp. AC is blasting radio maxed hard on the breaks rotors. They go with the reason that the designers designed vehicles for this.

There were weightlifters in the house tonight so I couldn't nick their big diameter light weights, so I used the PL stuff which meant starting at 60, other than that there was no difference, despite my frequent assurances to the WLers rubber and metal do actually weigh the same.

Shoulder has shown little or no improvement overnight, if it doesn't again tonight, then tomorrow's squats may prove very interesting.

As we get older, pain comes more than it goes. You seem to always dodge it well.

Amen to that Billy. You never notice that you don't hurt when you don't hurt. But come the days when you do and it's "oh man, not another one, what did I do to deserve this?"

I can't believe that a few sets of pain-free curls did all this, but it's a hell of a coincidence if they didn't. It has eased a tad during the day, movement seems to suit it more than keeping still - shame that

The shoulder continued to ease throughout the day, it was the right shoulder with additional discomfort in the right pec, the right trap and to a lesser extent the left trap. If I coughed in a "clear the throat sort of way" it hurt like hell.

Happily as today went on it got better and better, by three o' clock I could cough with only minor discomfort, and the aching was minimal, not ideal for squatting but we can but try and we do need to try.

Monday, July 23rd, start 16:00

I have brushed off my competition belt, my usual one is a rather shabby affair that fastens on the very last hole, but this is a Titan longhorn quick release, bespoke for a fat bloke, it fastens on hole ten. That's something I am thoroughly unaccustomed to. Glynn and Turner are already squatting so I work in with them, they have a passion for our few 25 kilo plates, so that changed the numbers a bit

Usually the first is awkward on the shoulder but all is well by the second and the remainder are just tom make sure and to free up the knees. The first five were awkward tonight but they got progressively less so and all was well by the sixth

The 150 was borderline but the three that followed it were all good, however I am beginning to feel it on the traps now, so

The fist rep of the first set was borderline and Dave;s voice thundered across the room to tell me so and what to do about it, the second two were fine. The remaining two sets were probably as good as I have ever done. All smooth and all deep (by my standards) In an ideal world I would have loved to do a couple of more sets but it is hot, I'm tired and the shoulders are feeling a bit once more, so I use what little common sense I have left and end it there. I have not had the most enjoyable fortnight on the training front - dropping eight plates on the deck a fortnight back and then the worst deadlift session of this century last week. Tonight was nothing to write home about but it was a decent session, in fact a very decent session considering the state I was in just thirty six hours ago. Hope returns gentle reader and cheerfulness is not very far behind it.

It took me a long time to realize two things.

1. the voice is never wrong
2. to actually listen to it and obey is a whole lot better than ignoring it
