The traps felt fine after Monday but not quite 100 percent, so tonight was always going to be a case of "suck it and see" and I started with no clear idea where I would end up. They grumbled a little bit right from the word go so I decided at 100 that I would go no higher and five fives seemed a reasonable thing to do. My traps were aching no more at the end than they were at the start, and lifting weights from and back onto the weight tree annoyed them, but it all seemed to pass ok. They're still aching now but only a little.

Back of the neck is still ever-so-slightly creaking.

Sunglasses / anorak guy is trying to trick me. he has taken to crossing the road later rather than sooner, so he is now on my left rather than my right. Nice try SAG, but you didn't even get close with that one.

Neck still aching a touch, shrugs would not have been a good idea tonight, so I served them, which was a good idea.

Very hot tonight, touching 30 degrees on the way up, much cooler later on the way home, and cooler still promised for the weekend. Happy days if that forecast is correct

What advantage is it to do to the above workout that helps you get the good numbers? I been busy and cut out the rows lately! Been rattling on the way up when heavy. Not sure if I should of threw pull downs and rows out of the mix?

The older you get the more recovery suffers. I realized that the old tried and trusted squat Monday, Bench Wednesday and deadlift Friday, which is the staple of so many was no longer workable for me, as the lower back was suffering from being worked every three to four days.

I therefore alternated Mondays between Squat and Deadlift and kept bench for Wednesday, this left Friday free. The decision was then either to use it as an additional rest day and train only two days a week or train, but do none of the three main lifts. It can vary from week to week but the staple is upper back and possibly shoulders.

I believe the third workout is beneficial and long as the reps stay high, the weights low and you avoid all the big three. I consider this to be superior to rest at this moment.

When things are fully back to normal it is my intention to squat light on deadlift day and deadlift light on squat day.

I had cause to google "Trigger's Broom" the other day and on the first page, aside from the obvious, was a Wikipedia entry for the Ship of Theseus. Lord do I love the internet.

Another bit of "Only Fools and Horses" trivia is that they never had the same table and chairs in the flat in any two episodes to emphasize that they lived hand to mouth and would buy and sell anything. I wonder how many spotted that. I never did, and only discovered it via the interweb

Thank you Pete! This helps me greatly. Today I do stones. All the strongman stuff and trying to squat numbers add pressing which don't forget bench blah blah... I am a fatigued, but something has to give. This looks like a way to do it. Smart maneuvering sir! You are a good man.

I used to work for this guy who had me sweep all day. The broom was worn and I showed him the new broom. He would freak out and tell me the broom was good and that I don't know how to properly sweep. Another employee must of switched out his old broom with another never seen old broom. He qui. Kay noticed it and blamed me for stealing his broom to this day.
