I can't go public with this. Last night at the gym I took some stick, and today at work the same. Too much traffic in here who possibly could just not resist if I offered them a stick to beat me with.

Very unlike you to be bothered by what others think Pete!

If you mean from me, I have to say it wasn't meant as such. Pointing out that it's an emotional rather than rational or financial decision isn't meant to be stick in any way, or indeed a criticism. Almost everybody's car-buying is, of course in varying ways (certainly mine is!). Money is only happiness tokens once the necessities are paid for, after all.

If I've upset you, my friend, be assured I never meant to.

It's because they won't say why. Plus it is such a strange thing to do.

I hate fishing but I have friends who love it. So they fish and I do not, I would not dream of telling them they were wrong to fish and I certainly would not call them a c**t for doing so.

I like to change my car on regular basis and like to buy new. It's no skin off their nose but they do tell me I am wrong and they do call me a c**t.

I bought my first car aged 25, my second at 29 and my first new one age 31, so I have had this for thirty years now. I weary of it. I don't really care if they think me a c**t, and I don't remotely care if they disapprove of me buying new cars. But I would love to know why they bang on so incessantly about it.

I have always said that what you do is nothing like as important as why you do it. I am sure I do many things that others disapprove of, but they say nothing. But this, they never let it lie. Why this ? Why nothing else ? And why does it matter if I am happy with what I do ? That my dear Bim is a f**kin' state secret. And if they really must tell me, why not stop at just telling me the once ?

Ah well, bench tomorrow. Happy days

It's not you Rickster. I understand the point you make. I know your heart is pure. What you pointed out to me is true, I don't disagree with a word of it. Of course you call me a c**t, but that is generally, not because of this. Again I don't disagree

No worries Bimster.

Onward and upward. We pass this way but once and we owe it to ourselves to have fun. Provided that fun harms no-one, it's fine by me.

Death by deadlift tonight as well - not fun in itself, but it is a contributory factor to other manifestations of fun.

Who says these things? I've never heard anyone say a bad thing about your car.

Not about the car, about the buying thereof. You're never there anyway, you only train twenty minutes a month then you can't hear anything cos the lights are dazzling ya.

Wednesday, 24th May, start 16:05

Hot tonight, twenty plus degrees, not good for training

Death by deadlift
60 x 20
Again the first eleven or twelve were easy, from there I started to sweat bigtime, there was a huge amount of gasping and grunting for the last set but quite quick recovery

Bench, very raw
20 x 15
20 x 15
20 x 15
60 x 5
70 x 5
80 x 5
90 x 5
100 x 3
105 x 3
110 x 3
115 x 3
120 x 3
120 x 3
120 x 3
These were pretty good tonight, I suspect the 120 was about it weight wise but the extra two sets were fairly easyish

I see your workouts and would like to train with you someday. Is your gym close to Manchester? I have a friend over living there for a couple months plus. Does your gym sell t shirts with those logo on them? How much$$& if they do? Thanks

Thirty to forty minutes out of Manchester by road or rail. I trained at Adlington while living in town for many years.

A pound a minute, I should pay by the session. What time are you there on Sunday?

When you see the place you will know that we don't.

We do from time to time get a few made. A visit from your good self may be reason enough

Rail is probably best as Adlington Station is only ten minutes walk from the club
