EDIT: It is not...you have at least a 20 x 50 from 2009...

I would have put money on me never doing that many, but I will bow to superior knowledge. I wonder why I did that ?

The reason was that initially I was working in with Aaron Shortpaws who has the bench on its lowest settings which makes it slightly more harder to get up from under. When he was done i reset the bench to a normal people setting.

Maybe next week I should just go for it ?

Monday 2nd October, start 16:10

Squat, boots and sleeves on
20 x 5
20 x 5
20 x 5
20 x 5
20 x 5
20 x 5
belt on
60 x 5
100 x 3
120 x 3
140 x 3
140 x 3
140 x 3
140 x 3
140 x 3
All deeply deep and a shade easier than usual, the knees continue to improve and hopes are high for when they are one hundred percent again

Boots off, pumps on

Deadlift,
60 x 5
100 x 3
140 x 2
160 x 1
180 x 1
200 x 1
belt on
210 x 3
Interesting, the 200 wasn't that good and made me fret a touch about the coming set, on a whim I put the belt on and the top triple was a breeze, a good deal easier than I thought it was going to be. Whether it was down to the belt or not we will never know but I see no reason to stick with it for a while. It is rare for me to use chalk unless the bar goes over one eighty, so I may use the belt when I use the chalk. Shoulders wre very much back on all these tonight as well. It's almost getting to be a habit :-)

Tbar row
20 x 10
30 x 10
40 x 10
50 x 10
60 x 10
70 x 10
80 x 10
70 x 10
Enjoyed these, the set at eighty was a shade heavy, hence the seventy for the last

We have a new British Champion of the weightlifting variety, Mack is now the under twenty 105 kilos champion and this despite having the s**ts and losing five kilos in the three days immediately before the comp. Much good lifting tonight and a splendid atmosphere all round. Happy days

Death by deadlift
60 x 20
yes twenty, been a bit sniffly today but when I started this I started to get rather snotty, there was some spitting out of the window from twelve onwards which is rare and by 16 it was clear that it was going to suffer. Stopped at twenty, could have forced a twenty first but what was the point ? That would have been the last so may as well fail at twenty as fail at twenty one. Felt very hot afterwards but recovered quickly. Hopefully better next week

Bench very raw
20 x 10
20 x 10
20 x 10
40 x 5
60 x 5
80 x 5
90 x 3
100 x 2
110 x 1
117 x 3
117 x 3
117 x 3
Not easy by a long chalk, but not life threatening either, three good sets

Close grip bench
60 x 8
70 x 8
80 x 8
90 x 8
100 x 7
The first three sets were easy but the fourth was not so easy decided to have a crack at 100 and expected somewhere in the three to five region, was delighted with seven and tried an eighth but the tank emptied completely on that one. Maybe start at seventy next time

The early morning awakens you as you open the door. You look to the sky as silence creeps into you veins. Somewhere unknown the sound of a hawks echo and back to silence. Deeper silence! Then the answers come I am told?

I have been a touch concerned about this knee, it has started to give, short, sharp aches when you least expect them or when doing something that you would never have thought would trouble it, for example - turning over in bed. They aren't unduly painful but they are they and I class them as rum.
It is therefore with some trepidation that I sink into my first long sit of the night, happily it troubled me not.
So with sleeves and boots on

Squat
20 x 5
20 x 5
20 x 5
20 x 5
20 x 5
20 x 5
60 x 5
belt on
100 x 3
120 x 3
140 x 3
140 x 3
140 x 3
140 x 3
140 x 3
Barely a murmur from the knee which makes me happy and doubly so because not only am I happy I am twice as happy as I thought I was going to be

Boots and sleeves off, pumps on

deadlift
60 x 5
100 x 3
140 x 3
160 x 3
180 x 3
180 x 3
180 x 3
The line on the 160 was a little off true but Glynn spotted and told me and once rectified the three at 180 were much better and easier than usual

3 x 8 at 10 kgs top inch lockout on leg extension machine for knee tracking purposes.

And there we go, stride off into the night with a spring inn my step and a smile on my face. Now if I can just get another winner at Ascot my weekend is complete

We don't do silence round here Billy, it isn't noisy, not by a long chalk, but it's never silent. There is always some noise somewhere. I envy you that, but I don't think I would like too much of it.

Missing training very much. Might drop in for a visit next week, but I doubt I'll be lifting anything until at least the week after.

Some time ago, I was driving on a very hot day with the radio turned up when a voice said reality check. Feel reality shut off the music/AC and wind down the windows. I felt enslaved to the voice so I did! I then heard loud crawling snapping sounds comming from Mpiunt Washington Pittsburgh Pennsylvania where the buildings are hanging Engineered attached that way to rock. A huge boulder then came crashing in front of my vehicle. The absence of the A C , music , contained in the compartment and the reality that sound still existed does not mean that silence wasn't there? I analyze too much huh pete?

You often note that you put your boots on.

What type of boots are they?

You have been missed, do pop along, everyone would be happy to see you. Brooke is interested in learning the drums (well she was yesterday at least). So those magical drumsticks that don't need drums got a mention

This is about eight miles from me, I don't visit as often as I should and like all locals consider it a hindrance rather than marvel at it's wonders

I do indeed, they are these

http://www.ristosports.com/weightlifting-shoes/custom-made-rus...

For many years I used a "safe" squat boot (They were later taken over by Titan I believe) and they were excellent but over the years my feet seemed to get a little wider and so I invested in another pair, this time I went with those linked above and particularly like the wooden heel and sole, they are excellent. They are not cheap but assuming your feet don't change they will never wear out and therefore never need replacing.

Serious squatting is fine if you don't need a heel as you can use boxing / wrestling boots or converse trainers, but you need a heel then nothing really is built to take that sort of weight, unless you go down the purpose made footwear route.

Many use shoes as generally favoured by weightlifters, but I prefer a boot.
