AKA the great reset Member 4056, 5207 posts | Brian hasn't got it statically to compete with Thor now. He was always a bit stronger statically and near equal with other events. The tables have turned now. Thor is better at loading, throwing, plane pull and medley. He is also stronger at pressing and deadlift. His squat has also came on since WSM. I'm a huge Shaw fan, but Thor is the man now. Shaw overtook Z and now Thor has overtaken Shaw. This is sport!

They were good, no one disputes it (he was leagues ahead of 3rd). The issue is they werent close to the best. Of the 3 events you list, Shaw won 0, and was decisively beaten by Thor in 2. A Thor who, it appears, wasnt close to his limit in either event.

End of an era. Member 4646, 1964 posts | Post Edited: 05.03.2018 @ 13:24 PM by Mikeneto Shaw's performance looks worse than it actually is due to the Stone...but I think he will have that sorted by next year. The static difference between Shaw and Thor isn't a huge issue. Deadlift was a 12kg difference, OH they were equal. He lost points to Caron focusing on Thor. Throwing - Thor is better...but Shaw always comes 2nd so only 1 point. Frame carry - Shaw was actually super good and was close to taking the event win. But I actually think Thor could win it next year if he keeps improving his grip at his current rate. But if Thor improves next year as much as he did this year...then no one will touch him. It will be 470kg squat and 490kg deadlift territory. But we are now heading close to WSM without no obscure event and Shaw will perform on all 6 events.

End of an era. Member 4646, 1964 posts | I reckon Shaw and Thor both came in 10kg lighter than last year. So Shaw = 200kg and Thor = 195kg

It's a moonface era now. Member 5901, 956 posts | Shaw is still good but he havent really improved in the last 3-4 years. He will hardly get better from this point.

His Best was 2016, while zydrunas was 2014. I think Shaw is no better than 2016. His deadlift looked a bit stronger then and everything else just as good

update game is weak Member 6289, 173 posts SQ 220, BP 120, DL 228568.0 kgs @ 175kgs UnEq | Finally got around to watching the rogue record breakers womanhood stones. Not disputing the strength, the strength shown by all 4 women who attempted it was amazing. The problem i have is apparently it was tackyless. Every one of them were applying tacky to their skin with tacky towels, and you could see their wrists and hands were sticky! I don't agree the stones were lifted 'tackyless' at all, they even rubbed these tacky towels all over the stones, legs arms and body! Not even close! Tackyless doesnt mean 'less tacky' it means none at all!

Member 2775, 6927 posts | Yeah I certainly wouldn't be posting anything about that as tackyless but 5k prize for doing the record was the same as what the men got so think that's a 1st in the sport.

Doesnt mean it wasnt a wr, the strength there was incredible, using tacky towels and saying its tackyless is the problem i have, the clue is even in the name! Tacky towel. Its not tackyless if youre using a tacky towel, its just less tacky than youd have if you applied straight up tacky
