2,415kg of 8mm steel rebar
4,050kg of 10mm steel rebar
1,740kg of 12mm steel rebar
7,470kg of 16mm steel rebar.

Worked this out and it's £7,824 and a total of 19,363metres of steel rebar!
19.363 KILOMETERS of steel! Fark! Think that'll be a few lorries of steel!

Updating first post as I go along to keep track of things for myself.

Had to Google that. I'm presuming I will have to buy several miles of that, too! Soiled underwear, anybody? I just remembered I need to sell off my powerlifting kit, too.

Would you mind letting me know if there's a way of calculating the amount of cement needed for 1st and 2nd stage of plastering, and for 3rd stage of actual plaster?

Ta.

Been told my last day at work is this Friday, so I booked a one way ticket. Leaving Sept 28th, building work can start very soon after.

About 10 tons of hardcore stone and dirt to fill the well.

I've agreed on 25,000 Turkish lira (~£6,500) for the guy to do the shuttering and steel work.
He's coming this weekend hopefully to mark where the foundations will be laid and where some holes need to be dug.

Found a VERY good price for the steel. $455 a ton delivered, but I can collect with a lorry so a bit more saved there.

Cant you use the spoil from the excavation to back fill the well along side the hardcore to save on muckaway cost?

What muckaway cost? This is Cyprus! We have a digger and a lorry. We'll find somewhere to put the extra muck. The excavation will give us very little waste. Any leftovers (if any) will be disposed of.

We're on the edge of a sort of cliff, where some of the current labd has fallen down. The structure of the new building will pull the surrounding land together, so as to avoid any more land slide action. Any more rocks thrown down there will only help to support the land. It's not used, I know the land owner and you won't be able to tell somebody has chucked rocks down there.

Precisely. Update - money was always going to be tight post-brexit, but now the £ has taken a nosedive. I was intending on paying $8,000 for steel this weekend, but might leave it a bit as things are SLOWLY recovering over the course of the day.

Worse. It's gone from me being able to build it without needing a loan to me having to scrimp and save, plus HOPE I won't need a loan!

I've probably lost about 10-12 thousand pounds over the past few months.
