Agreed. That was a good post

ye great post rick! as im ripped Tongue I expect to be tested next sunday haha

I don't have a problem at all with steroids if the person taking it excepts the risks and competes in an untested fed. I think mr martin is a prime example of that, peaked naturally and then wanted to see where he could go after that. I also think if you take you should be open about it like Sam, nothing worse then blatantly lying about it.

I did a wdfpf world championship as a jnr a few years back and there was a lad who got best lifter and got taken for a drug test kicked off for about 2 hours and eventually did it, surprise he failed it. think he was Moldovan and I just thought what a waste of the lads time and money if he knew he was cheating and quite likely to get caught!

It would be interesting to know why Millsy decided to go down that route, was it the pressure to be best, be competitive… I would be interested to hear, maybe a good point to come back in! Has anyone here gone down that route and why, I’m genuinely interested as if I was young I could see the temptation myself but now, I'm too old to be honest

I'd like to echo what others have said about Milsy. He's a great lad. I competed with him at The Roses Cup in 2014 and learned so much from him about how to manage myself during a competition.
I'm disappointed in him but would always treat him as the man he is, which is a very fine fellow indeed.

Also, excellent post from Dr Rick.

Rick said:I've only lifted in the various British IPF affiliates, and - as I suspect my numbers make quite clear - I haven't used anything. But then I would say that, wouldn't I.

One of the people I train with (when he turns up) has served a ban, many years ago now. He made a bad choice and paid the price. Sometimes temptation gets to people, I guess.

A lot of people were quite quite certain Tom Martin was on in GBPF, and vocal about it. I'm no expert, but it seems to me that the burst of progress and growth since he (very honourably and properly) resigned to take a more commercial path strongly suggests they were full of s**t.

I run NWPL's testing programme. We look to test people who are good, or fast-improving, or just f**king ripped. We also pulled another "oh he's obviously on" lifter - Steve Manuel - when he was coaching, with no contests of his own in the vicinity. So far everybody's passed the WADA-approved tests, including him. He was delighted to be tested OOC, because he naively thought it might shut up the constant stream of this crap. No such luck.

A lot of people like to say "oh, everybody good's on, they just know how to pass the tests". Maybe in sports which attract big money people can afford to pay for the latest and greatest designer drugs, but in amateur PL? Really?

Bim makes a fair point. If "all" the top GB guys are on, they're getting f**king s**tty returns on their investments.

You don't need the latest and greatest Designer Drugs to be "On" and still pass the tests, as shown by some of very average PED's the re-tests of past Olympic samples later revealed...a Calendar would do most of the time...so there is either a stunning ignorance of readily available information on that subject or, frankly, I don't even know what the alternative would be?

I must admit I'm a bit confused by the reactions on this thread - are Cheaters c**ts or are they OK if we know them?

It's cheating.

That is all it is.

People attempt to justify their cheating, by stating "Well it is clear 'x' is on it - so I am just levelling the playing field."

But this is done to assuage their own guilt.

The motivation behind doing this is mind-boggling, however.

Spending hundreds of pounds a year on PEDs, travel, equipment, accommodation - in order to cheat your way to a "sport" that on one is looking at and no one cares about.

Confused

Both. Milsy is a massive c**t for cheating. He'd say so himself. He's still a good bloke though.

Force10 got an absolute hammering on here for being suspended. Thankfully I wasn't one of them, not my style.

That's true, but if memory serves he was a bit of dick to begin with wasn't he? (I also didn't partake in the bashing either, btw)

In all honesty I would agree

I was in a very different place leading up to what happens both mentally and physically not just in powerlifting but other aspects of life. I did the pay the price and unfortunately I will always be associated with this no matter what I do in the future

I still lurk on here and train now and again. I soon realised Losing friendships and letting people down hurt far more than the ban itself

We all make mistakes mate, my view of you remains a positive one.

On a different note, it would be great to share a platform with you in an untested Fed one day! Happy

Your being a cnut when you cheat. However that doesn't make you guilty of mugging old dears. However no matter who much of a stand up guy you are you still did a c**ty thing.

Life Happy

Is there any one in this thread not guilty of doing a c**ty thing at some point in their life?

Milsy - no intention on competing again? Even if it is untested.
