Approx 30 seconds rest between each set. All done in just under 25 mins. This was hard work.

6 pull-ups is 6 more than I can do.

After all that sumoing you are going to ache. I find sumo is too technical, I just like to grab the bar and pick it up.

Unfortunately my sumoing isn't very technical. My back is hurting a bit at the moment, which it shouldn't be, as I've dropped the weight and sumo should be taking the stress of my lower back.

After Halloween weekend when we hosted a Halloween party - think this was Monday of this week.

Bodyweight 92.5 KG

Bench (60) 8 good (80) 5 ok (85) 8 hard (80) 6 hard but good

Military Press(45) 8 hard, 7 hard

Good session. Very pleased with the squats given that I haven't tried to squat more than 70 or so for ages.

Hungover & under-fed

Not a great session. The plan for the sumos was to do 60x20, 70x20, 80x20, 70x20, 60x20.... but I just had no strength due to hangover and not having eaten much all day.

It takes you 15 mins to walk to the end of your garden? Thats a lot of land you have.

Wow I haven't posted for ages. Got busy with work and didn't find time to log, then sadly lost enthusiasm for logging as I had to accept that I wasn't going to be able to continue pushing on absolute strength goals for the immediate future (lower back issues and now a diet that will mean losing about 20% of my body weight.

Planning to get back into logging as will still have goals- just different ones.

Started diet at 94.7. Was 86.9 on Tues this week (probably over 90 again after Christmas though) but strength is way down across the board and squatting and deadlifting has almost stopped in an effort to resolve lower back issues.

Body weight 90.something after festive gorging. Could be worse.

Deadlifts up to 140x5 with belt & reverse grip tonight. Pleased with this given that I've hardly deadlifted for months

Having a couple of weeks building strength back up before returning to strict dieting

Have been running a bit. Ran 2miles every day (1st mile up a very steep hill, second mile back down) for four days in run up to Christmas.

If I do nothing else I want to get lean this year.

Inspired by a session I saw in Wiegeboard's log, I thought I would have a go at doing as many pressups as possible in 5 minutes. This didn't go quite according to plan. Didn't think I would do more than Wiege managed (think it was 175 or something similar), but I thought it would go better than this:

Squats - Fitness Test

This is something that I was shown in Genesis gym. The idea is that you take 50% of your raw (beltless) max, do 2 fast reps then let your training partner do the same and then you go again immediately. As I train alone at the moment I decided to give myself 30 seconds from getting to the top of each squat (before racking) to start the next mini set. I remember being told when I first did this that anything above 20 sets would be good.

I worked off a theoretical max of 130, which although it only gave a working weight of 65, I still felt was a decent weight as I'm not sure whether I could even do 130 at the moment.

-Did 20 'sets' no problem, but left it there as I could feel my back throbbing.

Bench

(60) Feet on bench

(90) 5 hard but good, 5 better, 5 good, 5 good, 5 hard

Military Press (35) 12, 10, 8, 6

Best session I've had in a while. Was able to use more weight on the bench than I have recently due to Festive gorging and weight gain.

Decent strength re-building session. Hope I can continue rebuilding strength for another week or two whilst weight is still above pre-Christmas levels.
