It will be interesting to see what effect this has.

Will it increase the number of IPF lifters, or simply divide the current lifters in two and lower the standard?

Will lifters want, or have the time (and money) to lift in both equipped & unequipped?

Will this pull lifters away from other Federations?

I hope it pulls a lot of the WDFPF lifters into the IPF.

I won't be lifting 'classic' I love kit, but unfortantly it is the future of our sport. It grows with popularity every year and you can't resist change Unhappy

No its not

Equipped lifting will always be the mainstay

If unequipped become the 'future' then inzer, metal and titan would loose far far too much money and pull out of ipf which would then leave the ipf what 60 grand a year worse off

I doubt thats the major factor, 13k USD (8k GBP) was the cited annual cost of lincense fee. 32k from 4 companies is significant, but hardly huge money for a fed like IPF.

And f**k equipment companies, they f**ked up the sport more then anything else. Maybe the Olympics is a pipe dream, but unequipped powerlifting will have a better chance then apparel based stunt lifting.

If classic works out to be unequipped (which its looking like) then yes GBPF/BWLA have been running them for a while.

I'd have thought that if Powerlifting ever did get into the Olympics then it would be in it's 'Unequipped' guise.

Most people in strength sports find it hard to appreciated equipped lifting, so I'd imagine the general populous would be at a loss....

Who knows though? Anything could happen....
