Hi,

I'm new to this site and thought this would be a good place to start a journal, there are some awesome lifts on here and looks like a great place to get advice/encouragement. Hoping to compete for the first time this or next year, for which I have no high hopes numbers-wise (my lifts really are quite poor..for now!), just want to get into powerlifting and have a purpose for training, then onwards and upwards.

edit: forgot to say I'm somewhere around 78 or 79kg BW..not too sure where.

With squats, I was into a habbit of ramping up too often and not getting in alot of volume. So last month I deloaded to 100kg, and am now doing 3x5 every time, +2.5kg every session no excuses, no more no less. Hoping that when I retest my max in a couple of weeks I can hit 140 for a single Grin

Today could have been better, but chin ups PB so not all bad. Oh and I had an exam and that went fine.

Also another update. After asking around and doing some research I'm gonna be competing for the first time in the North Midlands unequipped at Horncastle in August. Don't know if anyone else on here will be there but I'm hoping to meet a few people, learn alot and take as much away from it as possible. Current comfortable "gym" total is probably around 370ish @ 79 so I'll just train hard between now and then, turn up and see what happens.

Terrible session. Squat was awful I'm 99% sure because my stance was too wide. I know this because 1) I felt it in my hips more than I ever have before and 2) my trackies completely tore open at the crotch lol. I was supposed to be going for 127.5 3x5 but that went to pot. WILL get it next time. Lesson learnt.

For some reason still feeling abit weaker so the 127.5 3x5 squats was never going to happen today, so went for heavier stuff instead with lower reps.

5/6/11 - Lower

I'm worried I didn't make depth. I'm always sure I do but looking at the vid, even if you pause it just between 0.21 and 0.22 it's not really possible to tell cos of the bad angle. Hmm

not a bad squat mate, you might be a touch wide which may hinder you getting depth, hard to tell from the angle though. nice work.......luuuuukey will be able to give better feedback than me though
