A1 1xDB Rows
40kg x 10 reps
50kg x 10 reps
70kg x 5 reps
70kg x 5 reps
75kg x 5 reps --All reps on all sets had to be strict and smooth today as jarring hurt like a b**ch. Tension was my friend though, the harder I squeezed the less it hurt.

A2 Bench Press
bar x 10 reps
70kg x 5 reps
90kg x 5 reps --Unrack was an issue
110kg x 3 reps --Unrack was a pain, not that it hurt, more like my nervous system is cutting power.
130kg x 1 reps --Almost couldn't unrack it
140kg x 1 rep --Ok this is silly the unrack was harder than the lift. My guess is my CNS is detecting the damage in my hand and putting the brakes on to prevent further injury. I decided to listen at this point and abandon bench. I hit the minimum weight I wanted for today so not a complete loss. Weirdly there was no pain bu there wasn't much else either.

A2 Horizontal Elbow Strikes
x 5 reps (Each Side)
x 5 reps (Each Side)
x 5 reps (Each Side)
x 5 reps (Each Side)
x 5 reps (Each Side)
x 5 reps (Each Side)
Stopped counting here, I just went nuts since bench was a right off.

I'll see how things are on Monday but if bench is going to be poo I'll just do two overhead sessions instead.

Ive heard that its quite common for an injury to switch of strenght like this,at least you managed what you needed, out of interest what are horizontal elbow strikes Confused Happy

It's a bizarre feeling though, like it was a max effort lift just to unrack warm up weights. The injury site is right on the knuckle so it could well be my hand rather than finger which would make sense why gripping is ok but painful. Whereas pressing just said: NOPE!

My other hobby is martial arts (hence the kick to the hand and subsequent injury), the elbow strikes were into my heavy bag. I'm very strong at straight attacks but rubbish at anything with rotation. I need to get more reps in and practice technique. I've done the same for kicks before and it worked wonders. Takes about a thousand reps before I can tell the difference but worth the effort.

Feel rough today, my daughter is off school with flu, hopefully I haven't pick that up. I'm flying out to Spain tomorrow morning for a work conference so I'll be missing my training session anyway (two Fridays in a row!!!). Sacked off all the fluff today and concentrated on the important stuff.

AMH Press
bar x 0 reps --Damn this is harder than it looks
10kg (Short bar) x 10 reps
10kg (Short bar) x 10 reps
10kg (Short bar) x 10 reps --Not sure I'm doing this right.

Squat
70kg x 5 reps
90kg x 5 reps
120kg x 5 reps
140kg x 5 reps
160kg x 3 reps
180kg x 1 rep
--Belt on
200kg x 1 rep
200kg x 1 rep
210kg x 1 rep --10kg above my current training max Roll-Eyes. I almost went for 220kg (which would have gone) but I called it here.

I got a better angle today, the stripes on my leg give a false impression of depth.

Cheers mate. I'm strongly considering running a squat specialisation routine at some point. It worked well in the past.

AMH Press was odd, I liked it but it just felt weird. I think it's a good thing that I'm bad at it, means there's progress to be made.

Cheers mate. I'm still playing safe really, I need more rep PB's before pushing the weight too much.

AMH Press is strange, the empty bar was too much today. Not sure if this is due to my dodgey hand or simply a lack of strength. Fingers crossed it's a strength thing as I stand to gain the most if it is. I'll be doing them regularly.

Cheers mate. Perhaps I was a little flippant, 220 would go but it would be damned hard.

Well I got half of 250, the down half lol. I maxed at 240. It would be good to have another go and I will when the time is right.

Well that was an eventful weekend away. On the whole it was very enjoyable, after all how often do you get an all expenses paid trip to a 5* hotel. The food was amazing and its fair to say I more than over indulged.

Had some fun by the pool with some work mates

On the Saturday evening I was most flattered when one of the young ladies I work with was shall I say willing to be affectionate. However I'm a married man and lovely as she is at 19 she's far too young.

Then there were the young guys, oh man they're dick heads. One of them got pissed up and kept groping the girls who were less than impressed. I had a word and told him to back off which he did. However only went away for 5 minutes or so then decided he would come up behind me and headlock me. Bad move. I felt the attack and reacted without thinking, in fact I was out before it was even fully on. He's lucky I recognised him, my first counter attack would have been a knee to the groin. I stopped it mid way and just shoved him to the floor instead. He go the message and went off looking for a taxi. I'm just glad he directed that as me and not one someone else.

The last big event and to me the scariest was when one of the girls decided to go balcony surfing and climb from one to the other. This was done by climbing over the wall and trying to to hold on while shimming across to the side. It didn't go well and she fell off. Luckily for her I had seen what was happening and despite being drunk had managed to get underneath and caught her before she hit the deck. Weirdly I was more shaken than she was. It was first floor height so she could have done herself some nasty damage. As it happens the impact was taken by my spine. Back has been stiff since it happened. This seriously s**t me up.

All in all an eventful weekend which needed more recovery than I anticipated. However all is good again now but I'll take these few days as a reload and begin again seriously on Monday
