Yes definitely I went fro TKD to Muay Thai it was a total shock to get belted in the face full whack and being low roundhoused to the leg was debilitating hurt like hell, but the contrast between the two was a world apart.
Awesome work mate well done on that pay rise Happy

I'd rather the whack in the face over the low roundhouse, they are absolutely crippling. I've a mate that goes to Muay Thai camp in Thailand on a semi regular basis, his kicks are unreal.

Personally my best is a teep kick, I can hit anywhere; knee, groin, centre of mass, head, it makes no difference. Since I have strong legs and a reasonable body weight I usually only need 1.

Summer is on the way. As long as i keep my knees and elbows toasty and I make myself uncomfortably warm before I leave the house I'm usually good. Although it can be painful to grip the bar when its below freezing. Huge respect for lifters that train in truly cold climates.

Pretty much all I've got right now mate lol. Press and squat are my main lifts these days, all the other stuff is to improve those 2. I've got martial arts goals as well so it's a balance but seems to be working ok.

Yesterday I had to do full power strikes into a (kick) shield. I was specifically told no kicks. My strikes (straight punch, hammer fist, elbows (various)) were enough to send the shield holder across the room. I ended up needing 3 guys to hold it in place. Therefore I conclude building power for strikes has certainly increased lol. Bloody knackering though, more cardio required.

Ha I'm good at striking but that's about it. Having a big right in your back pocket is always good but do need a lot more skill work. The strength won't last forever do I need technique for those days.

230kg x 1 rep
250kg x 1 rep --Time short today so I decided to test the water and see how my strength is doing. Not bad really, I've only been using deadlifts as an accessory recently. I might be on to something here.

A1 BOR with Purple band
70kg x 10 reps --Oh man the band tension makes these hard. I used a hook grip for all sets, seemed like a good idea to get the extra work in. No idea how much tension the bands add but it felt significant. Nest time I will anchor to a point just in front of me so I have a slight backwards motion to the pull.
70kg x 10 reps
70kg x 10 reps
70kg x 10 reps
70kg x 10 reps

A2
bar x 5 reps --Pink bands
bar x 5 reps --Purple bands
50kg x 3 reps --Pink bands
50kg x 5 reps --Purple bands
60kg x 3 reps --Pink bands
60kg x 5 reps --Purple bands
70kg x 5 reps --Purple bands
70kg x 5 reps --Purple bands
70kg x 5 reps --Purple bands --Feels like a good progression. the next logical step is pink bands with 82.5kg

YTWL 5x5 between sets

I'm liking those banded rows...a lot!

Some quality sessions mate and that 250 dead was a piece of cake!
