I just messed around with my new Fat Gripz.

Double Overhand Deadlift

120 kg x 1
125 kg x dropped
120 kg x 1
120 kg x 1

I did the session at home where I (currently) don't have any chalk. I don't know how much difference the lack of chalk made but these lifts were pretty tough.

Deadlifts

Warmups then...
240 kg x 1
255 kg x 1
255 kg x 1
255 kg x 1
255 kg x 1
257.5 kg x failed at the knees (another single on 255 would have been hard enough, at this stage, so I don't know why I increased the weight)

DOH Pulls with Fat Gripz

120 kg x 1
125 kg x 1
130 kg x 1
135 kg x f - it hardly moved before my grip went

I couldn't get to the gym today so I did a condensed session at home.

Clean and Push Press (edit: there was just one clean on each set Roll-Eyes )

Warmups then...
100 kg x 8 - I should have managed 10 but I ran out of gas
105 kg x 5
105 kg x 5

That's it! I should be able to get back to the gym on Friday.

5 inch deficit pulls

Warmups then...
220 kg x 1
230 kg x 1

(13 inch) Deadlifts

250 kg x 1
265 kg x 1
272.5 kg x 1 - reasonably easy, I should get this weight from 'the floor' soon

Front Squats

120 kg x 3
120 kg x 3
120 kg x 3

Behind Neck Jerks

Warmups then...
100 kg x 1
100 kg x 1 - I was really getting quite confident at this stage
105 kg x 1
105 kg x 1
110 kg x ouch - I lost control when the bar was still behind me and it hit me on the on the way down. It missed my head but, despite maintaining a tiny bit of control, it gave me a pretty decent whack. There's plenty of bruising now.
110 kg x 1 - I didn't want to stop despite being battered and bruised. However, it's only an assistance exercise and I'm going to leave these for quite a while.

Thanks, Millsy! I don't think that I'd have even managed another 500 grams though.

At least I'm getting some decent consistency going - especially compared to my 'efforts' in previous years.

And yeah, the gym IS awesome. It actually belongs to a weightlifting club but they've sold some of the space (that you can't really see) to a Crossfit affiliate. You'd love the place.

Wednesday 9th October

Deadlifts

Weak! I was going attempt 10-12 singles with 230-40 kg but when the first single (with 240) required plenty of effort and even dropping down to 230 kg was quite tough, I moved onto 'something else'. I think my CNS was 'feeling it' after my grinder last Friday.

I then moved onto a few paused squats, some front squats and a bit of overhead work. I didn't attempt to memorise any of he weights/sets/reps.

Friday 11th

I didn't have much time; again. I love the gym but it only opens for limited hours; with it being a club.

Front Squats

Upto 140 kg x 1

Strict Press

Upto 80 kg x 3

Pendlay Rows

Upto 130 kg x 3

Monday 14th

'Bedridden'

Wednesday 16th

Still ill.

Friday 18th

Feeling quite a bit better.

Deadlift

230 kg x 2 - comfy
230 kg x 2 - quite comfy
230 kg x 2 - still pretty easy

I'm planning to complete three 'working' doubles per deadlift session, for the foreseeable future. For the first few weeks, I'll add 2.5 kg per session. I should be able to get to just above 240 kg before that becomes really challenging. I'll then add just 1 kg per week. If/when I can't complete a given session, I'll attempt it again the following week.

Split Jerk

100 kg x 2
105 kg x 2
110 kg x 2
115 kg x 2
117.5 kg x 1 - I planned for a double but, after the first rep, there was clearly 'no chance'.

Pendlay Rows

Final set of 130 kg x 3

One-handed Deadlifts

Several years ago, I bought Dinnie Ring replicas from David Horne but never really used them. Yesterday, I just used the large Dinnie Ring with a loading pin.

Singles (with straps)

Up to 195 kg with each hand. 200 kg wouldn't have gone, I could only just hold the '195' - even with the straps. A huge callus went from my right hand.

Wednesday

Split jerks

Numerous sets with low weights focussing on being extremely snappy. Then...
100 kg x 3
105 kg x 3
110 kg x 3
115 kg x 3
120 kg x 2, f3
115 kg x 3, f4
105 kg x 6, f7

I was going to do some front squats but I didn't think that I had much left in the tank.

Thanks, Millsy. I feel like I've been 'getting somewhere' with my training recently. I just need to keep the consistency going but, short of getting injured, that shouldn't be a problem.
