Our deadlift is about the same. Flexibility an issue? Just done these for the first time in about 5 years yesterday and got tons of muscle tightness.

Kept adjusting foot placement and stance, couldn't get a comfortable position. Didn't have much strength sitting back upright with the weight. Will work on it. Is it effective for the QL (Quadratus Lumborum) muscle and the erector spinae?

Is it effective for the QL (Quadratus Lumborum) muscle and the erector spinae? Going by the anatomy of the QL, my educated guess would be definitely. It's very similar to the erector spinae and I'd imagine that if it's good for e.s (most definitely is) then it would be just as good for the QL. I don't think it utilises the hamstring much if at all, and can pretty much do them without the use of my feet for anything other than stability.

I can't comprehend how you managed 75kg let alone 60kg seated Goodmornings! I bent down far enough to touch my nose on the bench and then struggled to sit upright again just with the bar and have Lower back DOM's today! Recently focusing more attention to lower back and abdominal group muscles to strengthen the trunk which will help in compound exercises. I simply don't do enough at the moment.

Squatting isn't doing my back any good. Member 5108, 869 posts SQ 170, BP 125, DL 210505.0 kgs @ 93kgs UnEq | Are you doing the funkycomp or just going along? I have said I will go, so I guess I will lift. Will just be a bit of an experiment to see what I can lift after a light build-up with no maxes. Good work on that stone by the way - bit more upper body strength and you'll be shouldering it in no time. I very much doubt that I could do that.

I sent you the link with hope that you would put yourself forward as well, glad that you are lifting It's the same venue as last year. Thanks, I will practice getting it to lap more often to begin with. It took a lot of concentrated effort, I want to be more efficient at getting off the floor and then build upon it at each step. Not ready to try getting it to shoulder yet. Going to put more focus on front and zercher squats, and sandbag carries to contribute to stone lifting.

I won't get myself a placing. I won't anyway, but just in case something catastrophic happens which means I should get a somewhat decent wilks.

I certainly wouldn't hold it against you Funky - just don't drop anything on your foot this time. Last 2 strength comps I've been to someone has broken a foot actually. The other one was a strongman comp with Steven and a guy dropped a (100KG I think) iron block on his foot.

Last 2 strength comps I've been to someone has broken a foot actually. The other one was a strongman comp with Steven and a guy dropped a (100KG I think) iron block on his foot. The remainder of the nail was removed by me a couple of days ago, just over a year after breaking the toe in two places. It's only grown back by 50%, and it should have been 100% after 6-12 months. I've royally fked the nail bed and I'm hoping that it'll eventually grow back fully. I will be wearing steel capped boots next time. I remember seeing pictures of a guy's foot after he dropped a very large (140kg or so) atlas stone on his foot from a considerable height. His foot was pretty much split in all dimensions!
