Squats

Due to having to do my deadlift session a day late this week I still had doms in my lower back and hams so knew I wouldnt be setting any pbs

Squats - Thor sleeves on

10 mins warmup/stretching

60k x 10

Decent enough session considering , never really loosened up fully but felt strong and no worrying pains just normal doms , wrists were sore on the fronties but again due to my training falling on different days this week , shoulders and squats back to back were always gonna be tough on them , looking forward to things being back to normal next week , obviously a set in my ways old git who dosent like change Grin

Chest and arms body beautiful session Tongue

Purely maintenance tonight , aim was to get the blood pumping whilst going easy on my wrists as they have had a hammering last couple of days

Flat bench

5 mins warmup/stretching

65k x 20 slow with 5 sec pause

65k x 10

105k x 4

Wrist wraps on

145k x 4

150k x 2

155k x 1

105k x 10

65k x 20

Bi/tri supersets

Standing alt dbell curls/ v handle cable pushdowns x 5 sets

Preacher wide ez bar curls/ wide bar cable pushowns x 5 sets

Preacher narrow ez bar curls/ close grip bench x 3 sets

Done , nice quick workout in and out in 45 mins and home to stretch out , roll on monday for some heavy deads Happy

Deadlifts

Had a great weekend , no aches and pains and ate really well so decide to max out on deads , plan was loads of light warmup sets and then singles all the way to glory Grin

Deads

10 mins warmup/stretching

60k x 10 slow

60k x 10 slow

100k x 4

100k x 4

Felt really loose at this point , no pain or sign of lower back cramps , good to go Happy

140k x 1

180k x 1

290k x 1 PB

295k x 1 FAIL

Over the moon , 290 flew off the floor , slowed down over the knees but never came to a stop and smooth with no hitch , shouldnt really have tried the 295 but I was on such a high I couldnt help myself lol , again broke the floor fast but all spent from the previous set so when it got to my knees I had nothing left , not bothered as I think with a bit more rest it would have come , well on track now to get 7 plates by christmas , life is good Happy

Overhead session

Have decided to drop pretty much all assistance work for time being as all my big lifts are going in right direction with just concentrating on the lifts themselves , if it aint broke dont fix it kind of thing Cool

Good session , felt strong throughout and no crisis of confidence tonight which makes a nice change , first set of power jerks was all over the place but then I realised I was watching myself in the mirror instead of looking up to the apex of the roof as Ive been told , remaining sets were much better , cant explain how much I am loving my training right now Happy

Good sessions this week mate.....deadlifts especially......I've gone backwards on them & uve steamrolled ahead with them by looks recently......shoulders & your power getting good 2.... Your bench numbers seem good also......I'm gonna go up 2 Ross's new setup before end year now I think......gonna try get back training leg & deads heavy again soon now I hope.....wanna powerliftn & if do get back tidy il consider strongman again next year.......concentrating on explosiveness & core instead static stuff this time.......my shoulder strength great at moment so I'm hoping rest of me can catch up...... Not sure 2 bulk 2 opens or stay as 105 if compete strongman again

Cheers mate , yeah everything is coming together nice now , need to start back events myself but bridgend is a bit too much of a trek for me to do regularly tbh so just concentrating on gym lifts right now and then work something out for after xmas , core work has been the biggest change ive made too mate , didnt bother in the past and paid the price , stupid really cos the difference it makes esp overhead is crazy , you will do well at 105 or opens Phil , you seem to bulk up at will lol , those 120k comps would prob suit you really well too if they go ahead , no worries about dropping weight then and no 150k monsters either , win win Happy

Cheers Ross mate Happy , having a good run atm , hoping to nail 300 by xmas , be a nice start to the new year.

Hows your training going mate? New place looks good in pics but bit too far for me to get up every week , looking at building some kit up down here so I can train events alongside my gym work next year , think I was suffering trying to squeeze them all into one day tbh so gonna spread events through the week , right now though just gonna concentrate on getting my big statics up and worry about the rest next year lol Cool

Squats

Woke up feeling like I had been on the ale this morning , banging head and nauseous , Mrs been like it since yesterday so prob coming down with something , no aches muscle wise though so training still on just gonna take it steady next few days , no point kicking the s**t out of myself in the gym just so a virus can kick double the s**t of me cause ive overtrained Wink

180k x 3 Wanted 4 but good morninged the 3rd so left it there

120k x 8 Really slow with 2 sec pause at bottom

Fronties with oly style grip

Left it there , nice easy session , trained with a guy from the gym whos doing his first powerlifting comp in 2 weeks at short notice so didnt do quite as many sets as normal what with changing the weights up and down but well worth it , really nice guy who puts everything into his training and a pleasure to train with , no b**ching just gets stuck in , hes gonna compete in the 67k class and he did an easy 130 raw tonight , got a 200 dead in him as well with loads more to come , strong boy fairplay.

Would have done more sets of fronties but the gym closes st 9 and it was 10 past then so didnt want to take the piss , felt good anyway , mad how natural they are starting to feel already Happy

Bench session

Woke up with a banging headache again but the lurgy that I was fearing hasnt really come on just a small cough so hoping thats all it is , trained with the young guy whos doing his first PL comp again , he had no idea what his 1rm bench was so we both went for heavy singles tonight , I normally train alone so quite nice to have a spotter.

Flat bench

10 mins warmup/stretching

45k x 10

65k x 10

105k x 4

125k x 2

145k x 1

165k x 1 pb

100k x 10

60k x 20

60k x 15

60k x 10 last 3 sets done with 1 min rest between

Incline hammer machine press

2 plates a side x 4 sets

2 sets bi/tri supersets , light weight just to get the blood pumping

Happy with that , nice to get a bench pb but tbh tonight was more about finding my mates 1rm , he got 85k with a 2 sec pause , think hes got another 10k in him or should have by the comp , be nice to see what he totals on the day Happy

Deadlifts

Another weekend of fiddling with the car , spent most of saturday lying on my back in the rain swapping the hub on my celica out only to go and strip the threads on the hub nut, couldnt get a new nut till 3pm monday and didnt get home to fit it till 6 , 1 hour of A team like reassembly in the dark and a load of banged and scraped knuckles later and I was probably less ready for heavy deads than ever , these things are sent to try us eh Grin

Done , short and surprisingly sweet , after rushing down the gym I had about 50 mins to train , working with the young powerlifter again and I think thats what got me through , couldnt push him to hit his numbers and then miss mine , last 3 sets were 80,85, and 90 percent of my new 1rm , plan is to add 2.5 - 5 kg a week onto those final sets before going for a new max before xmas , want 7 plates before my turkey Happy
