thats what im trying to do mate - add 5kg each side each time, but its getting a real battle to complete the sets, so may bite my tongue, look like a complete pussy and just add 1.25k each side... good lifting though butt, a heavy PB for xmas would b nice!!!

Deadlifts

Another weekend of fiddling with the car , spent most of saturday lying on my back in the rain swapping the hub on my celica out only to go and strip the threads on the hub nut, couldnt get a new nut till 3pm monday and didnt get home to fit it till 6 , 1 hour of A team like reassembly in the dark and a load of banged and scraped knuckles later and I was probably less ready for heavy deads than ever , these things are sent to try us eh Grin

Done , short and surprisingly sweet , after rushing down the gym I had about 50 mins to train , working with the young powerlifter again and I think thats what got me through , couldnt push him to hit his numbers and then miss mine , last 3 sets were 80,85, and 90 percent of my new 1rm , plan is to add 2.5 - 5 kg a week onto those final sets before going for a new max before xmas , want 7 plates before my turkey Happy

Cheers mate , yeah best pressie I could get lol , nothing pussyish about adding 1.25k a side , nearly half a stone increase is still good going , think its easy to forget sometimes just how much a "gym" weight actually equates to in the real world , all progress is good progress mate Happy

Overheads

I didnt have much time to train last night so plan was just get down there hit my numbers and get out - hit and run session Happy

Pushpress

5 mins warmup/stretching

65k x 10

110k x 3 - wanted 4 but lost it backwards on 3rd , managed to hold it but burned out in the process.

112.5k x 2 Easy , smooth and more push than press which is where I want to be.

Power jerk with oly grip

70k x 4

And out of there , 35 - 40 min session at most but happy to get it done , got the double I wanted and the power jerks felt really easy and natural , something I didnt think I would ever be saying a month ago , wrists are feeling a bit battered but no real pain just aching , 115 double next week is def on Happy

Squats

Training with my mate again , his first PL comp is 9th dec so hes really motivated and since the date has been set for the Welsh my fires have been stoked again , got to the gym nice and early and gagging to lift , he was already there and had secured the rack so no hanging about straight into it Happy

Squats - Thor sleeves on from first set

10 mins warmup/stretching

45k x 10 slow and paused to really stretch everything out

65k x 10

105k x 10

145k x 4

185k x 4

205k x 2 Tough , nearly face dived on the first rep but just saved it only to sit too far back on the second , spent a good 2 sec in the hole before managing to shift my weight forward and squeeze the rep out.

Fronties with forward oly grip

90k x 4

90k x 4

Great session , going to avoid wrapping for a while and just use sleeves , at least till I get past my old pb which was with wraps on.

Found the fronties really tough tonight , seems that as the weight being used is going up im tipping forward at the bottom so that my wrists are taking most of the load instead of it sitting on my delts , going to work on my form next week and try too actively sit back more with lighter weights so I can nail it when it gets properly heavy , still moving in the right direction though so all good Happy

Nice work mate, on fronties, think about sitting on your heels and forcing your elbows up throughout the lift.

Cheers Si Happy I do all my pressing and squatting in my socks , do you think oly shoes would help with shifting the weight onto my heels? Ive been actively pushing my elbows up on the advice of Ken Webster and its def been helping just that as the weight is increasing im losing form , want to get it sorted now whilst the weights are relatively light so it dosent become a major problem later on.

Def seeing an improvement in my pressing from throwing the oly style training in though , good call mate Happy

What I found with oly shoes is because of the heel they push me forward more but since I've been doing oly work I've been doing fronties in my weightlifting shoes and really concentrating on keeping my head and elbows up, back straight and sitting on my heels, it's tough but I'm getting there.

I think im gonna have to invest in a cheap pair to see if they help , was looking at the lokis from strengthshop a while back but when I went to order there were only size 4s and 5s left , might see if I can drop enough hints to the missus about how nice the impalas look with xmas round the corner Grin

Bench session

Another sess with my PL mate again tonight , think ive been missing out by training solo the last few years as my strength has spiked last couple of weeks with having a partner again , havent had a bad session since we started working together.

Bench

Done , low volume again but my strength is def benefiting from it , I will increase the workload and throw more movements in once my mates comp is out of the way but until then im just sticking to the big 3 lifts (apart from overhead day) and pushing him on , quality over quantity atm Happy

Deadlifts

Had a chat with an ex commonwealth games oly lifter today , guy really knows his stuff and used to train and compete with Gary Taylor , did a fair few SM comps as well , advised me to drop the 6,4,2 ive been doing for my last 3 sets and switch to 4,3,2 not long term but just to hit 300k by xmas , always open to suggestions from people with more experience than me so gonna give it a blast.

270k x 2 - Failed the 2nd! Felt myself round on the first so instead of touch and go which I did on previous sets I came to a complete stop , reset but nothing there , prob could have monged it up but not going there anymore , strict or nothing is the new mantra Happy

All in all quite happy with what was another low volume session , gonna keep same weights for next week and nail that 2nd rep , rounding wasnt a big issue , just think I rushed into the set without enough rest from the previous set and lost form , wont be making a habit of it Happy
