I am a bench-only guy Member 3, 10035 posts SQ 185, BP 175, DL 235595.0 kgs @ 140kgs UnEq Administrator | So I finally opened my slow cooker, plan to use it tomorrow. Three speeds, "high", "low" and "warm". It says that high is the normal setting, wanting about 7-8 hours, and says nothing about low. What would I use that for? I intend to put some chicken thighs, onion, garlic, and stock in tomorrow on high, about 7. It has dire warnings about running dry, so cover by a couple of inches? Then when I get home at 5, throw in some mushrooms and turn it to "low" for three hours while I train. Sensible? Advice solicited. Fill me with your wisdom.

Scotbasher - forever Member 59, 2115 posts | Rick, yes would recommend the low setting if you're leaving it on all day. We did pork in Cider today, it was very nice. You don't need as much water in it as you would if you were using the oven unless you're using dried ingredients in the recipe, it tends to condense on the lid and drop back into the bowl and of course it's never up to boling temperature.

Gone and easily forgotten....... Member 331, 22298 posts SQ 185, BP 100, DL 230515.0 kgs @ 85kgs UnEq | Couple questions here. How big for cooking up 4-5 meals? I don't think I need Thing's 6 litre tank. What is the next one down? Is it 4 litre? How do the electricity costs compare? For example if it takes 6 hours in the slow cooker vs 2hrs on an electric hob?
