Saw Pete (Hodgson) in the gym today and he mentioned he had a journal on here so I figured I would start one too. Here goes...

The names Luke, I'm 23 and live in Preston. Been back in the gym for 4 weeks after a year long layoff (no injury just a lot of going on the piss!). My strength is about 20% down across the board which isn't too bad considering the time off.

Todays session went as follows. Going off a dodgy memory.

Squats
160 x 2
170 x 1
180 x 1

Log press (first time)
60 x 1, 1
70 x 1, x 1
75 x 1
80 x 1
60 x 8

Deadlift
200 x 3
220 x 1

Bench Press
102.5 x 8
110 x 3
115 x 2

Close grip bench
90 x 10

Chin ups
Bw 3 x 5

Very good day. Bodyweight is 94kg.

Nice session Luke, that 180 squat was nice and deep, with more there.

ha.
Yep, 12.30 tomorrow. Martin's training, maybe a couple of other lads too. If you get in first put a towel in the power rack to reserve it!

Exactly. You'll have to just progress at the same rate as me now. You have no choice Wink

Was just going to do some prehab/recovery work today after a pretty crazy shift last night (barman and student loans were in) but when I got to the gym I felt like deadlifting.

Deadlift
205 x 5
Rechalked between reps 3 and 4 so the set took about a minute.
220 x 1
240 x 1
Ugly and hitched but progress nonetheless.

Face pulls/curls/db extensions/lots of different db and cable raises done pretty much continuously for about half hour. Very light.

Pulling 240 in my 4th week back in the gym leaves me feeling pretty content. My grip is feeling very weak atm and its always been a problem (little girl hands) I'm gonna try and train it directly at least once a week. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks for the tips mate. I shall start doing holds next deadlift session. Barbell holds DOH I assume you mean? I can't even hold onto 100kg for 30 seconds.

Yes, DOH Barbell holds. You can do them with and without chalk, just keep a record for each. Your grip will soon get better. You have to squeeze like a mother though lol

Haha on it! I'll start these tomorrow. On a different grip related note I closed my CoC 2 with my right hand yesterday. Doesn't really carry over to anything but I like using them.

Let's hope I can get the same results.

3 Board Bench
110 x 3
120 x 3
125 x 3
130 x 3
135 x 2 failed 3rd
140 x 1
Everything above 110 felt super heavy in my hands, cue lots of shaking. Need to get used to the heavier weights again.

DB Press
42.5 x 6
45 x 6
50 x 4
45 x 5

One arm machine rows
60kg x 7 too heavy
40 2 x 10

Face Pulls
10p 3 x 10

Good session with Martin and co. Seeing him benching with 280 is f**king scary haha.
