StevenFatty said:Thanks Billy. I have been using a sledge hammer in the gym, doing levers. I am going to spice up the diversity if of sledge hammer work as you suggest. As I can only get to the gym twice a week, I am trying to build up some training equipment at home.

I now have a 3" thick wrist roller and and pinch grip device I have made. My dad has some kind of sledge hammer that he is going to give me, and he is going to get me a bag of sand from where he works. I have asked the local pub for a beer keg.

The wrist bend in all directions. Imagion your wrist was a knee and your knee was a wrist?!¿~.
I had a enjoyable conversation with a friend about my other friend not returning equipment I let him borrow. He said, that same guy said he did the same thing to him. I then let him borrow this:

3 years at least and saw him maybe 10 times. I won't ask. My wife said don't ask hang it up and buy another. I will not yet.

Thanks, I have been researching different ways of excising wrist. I am starting to get bitten by the strongman bug. I worry that my knees are not up to the job (cartilage issues).

Sometimes people borrow things and decide that they want to keep them. It is a strange thing to me. Self-respect is surely worth more than property, and when your are stealing from your friends how can you have self respect?

Bench Press

90 X 5
90 X 5
90 X 5

CG Bench Press

70 X 10
70 X 5 suddenly got difficult

20 rep safety Bar Squats

82.5 kg...racked the bar at 13 because I chickened out a little, then continued till 20. Very tough set.

The problem is not strength...it is nausea.

Kettle Bell Rows

40 kg each arm.....4 sets of 10.

Kettle Bell single Arm Shoulder Press

28 KG first set 3 reps then second set 4 reps.

I had the body of the kettle bell resting on my forearm, it felt as though if i added more weight it could cause I fracture, so I will give these a miss.

Rope Machine

Did these slower than usual, and kept going for about 5 minutes.

Waked home.

Gripwork

Home made pinch grip device, and double pinch of 11 kg plastic plate which is for some reason very difficult to hold.

Deadlifts

150 X 5 doh
160 X 3 mixed grip
170 X 3 mast one really tough grinder

Got a new belt with a narrow front helps me get down to the bar to set up more easily, but still struggling with set up a bit.

Definitely can feel the benefit of improved grip- I think the static hold have helped especially.

Stiff Legged deadlifts

100 X 6
100 X 6
100 X 4

Ham Curls

2 sets

Dumbbell Shoulder Press

25kg X 10, X 7, X 5

Dropset of 30 kg strict press with barbell.

Grip Work

9 kg hex holds and 10 kg hex holds.

Various hammer lever movements and some static holds.

Rope Machine

5 mins

Then walked home.

Are you tall with high arches your feet? That gives you the tendency to become off balance? I like the walk 3mi

I am tall'ish yes. I may have high arches, but I don't know because I've never compared them to other peoples. I can get knocked off balance sometimes, so I need to be careful.

Safety Bar Squats

100 X 5
110 X 5
110 X 5
110 X 5

Last time I did fives, I did 105 kg and it was a bit heavy. After doing 20 reps sets for a couple of weeks, the 110 kg fives was easy. Not what expected but not complaining.

Log Press

40 x 3
50 x 3
50 x 3
50 x 3

Sled pulls

2 sets with two 20 plates

4 sets with four 20 plates. Not heavy enough, will pull more next time.

Chins ups... 2 sets

Thick bar pull downs.... 2 sets and 1 drop set.

Rope machine... about 5 mins.

2 sets of curls.

Walked home.

Walked about 4 miles to the gym.

Did db bench presses....since that I am doing strongman and have no spotter, I am going to do db presses because this is something I can progress at more safely.

I did 4 sets of db presses, 30 kg each dumbbell.

Close grip bench press 3 sets of 60 kg ...need to get better than these.

Safety Bar Squats....legs tired from walking...squats went terribly.....3 sets of 9 at 80 kg. Pathetic.

I squatted in front of a mirror... I new I squatted deep with the safety bar but I did realise just how deep. No wonder they are tough.

Then did 3 sets of kettle bell rows at 40 kg.....about 9 reps each. Not great.

40 kg strict press 3 sets of 10.

Static holds 150 kg....getting easier.

Went home, there really was no point in continuing, I was too tired from the walk,

Safety Bar Squats

110 X 5
115 X 5
115 X 5
115 X 5

Db presses 3 sets of @ 35 kg each db. Should have done more but felt demotivated.

CGBP 60 kg, 3 sets of 8.

Sled pull, immediately followed by prowler pushingit back into starting position. 3 sets. First set @ 100 kg. Last 2 sets @ 150 kg.

(perhaps prowler isn't right word..used the handles at the front)

Thick bar seated rows. 3 sets.

Ham curls 3 sets (need to strength hams).

Finished with rope machine but felt pretty battered from sleds so didn't last as log as usual.

I am really enjoying this strongman stuff.

Awkward thick pinch grip 5.5 kg. Couldn't hold it long at all 10 seconds max.

Then walked up and down the stairs repeatedly with a sandbag in my arms....did 3 sets of this.

Did some more of my pinch grip...could hold it a bit longer this time...more warmed up. Also did double hand pinch grip of my 11.3 kg, thick and awkward plate.

Did another set of up and down stairs with sandbag .

Did 2.5 inch thick wrist roller, now with 10 kg. 3 sets supinated 3 sets pronated.

Did the awkward thick 5.5 kg pinch grip again, this time held about 60 seconds each hand, despite have been battered by the wrist roller...it seems I need a lot of warming up for pinch grips.

2 sets of planks each 60 seconds long.
