I will return, but not until I'm actually well again. Which I think I nearly am.

I've not been posting because frankly reading about you guys lifting is depressing when I'm not.

This will have been the longest break I've had from the weights since September '01 when I started lifting again after many, many years. I hope it will be the longest break I take for many years, too.

good to hear you are ok mate - we started to worry that Abdul had a bad patch of kebabs or something and you are long gone.

Life happens, not much you can do about it. try to sneak in more walks and cardio though, dont let it all slide.

My God, it's been a long time. Still, I think I'm actually well again now. Let's have a light week and see if I die.

Wide Pulldowns 63x12

Bench 20x8, 60x5, 80x3, 100x3x3 (all paused), 80x10. These were in good form (apart from the second set) and piss easy.

Incline DB Press 32.5x10. Less easy - stamina takes a hit when my training gets disrupted.

Seated Rows 56x8, 91x10. Not hard.

Narrow Pulldowns 84x10. Hard, as above.

Lunges 20x5, 40x5. I don't like these - but in a good way.

25 minutes on the elliptical, stretching.

I suspect I am going to hurt rather a lot for the next two days.

Damn, it's good to be back.

Pain update: some chest soreness, but not much. The worst is probably still to come...

In happy-making news, I seem to be getting my shooting form back to the point where I'm hitting free-throws more often than I'm missing them, which means I'm probably close to being a consistent shooter again. Which will definitely make my coaching more convincing Happy.

Squat 70x5x2, 90x5, 100x5, 110x5. The first set was painful and difficult to make depth on - the right knee really didn't like it. After that I moved my stance in a bit more and everything else was lovely, each set easier than the previous.

DB press 15x10, 27.5x10. Very easy.

Seated row 56x8, 91x10. Better form than last time, I think.

Assisted chins -20x3x2. These were startlingly good - the support hit the stops pretty hard at the top of the reps.

25 minutes on the elliptical, 15 stretching. Record levels of bulls**t, mostly from Olly Happy.

All in all, I'm very happy with this. Back to full form soon, I hope.

Deadlifts 60x8, 100x5, 140x5, 160x2. Heavier than I was planning, and more reps, but they felt so good and so easy Happy.

Narrow-grip pulldowns 70x8, 91x10x2 very smooth, strict and easy.

Assisted chins -20x3x2. The first set was piss-poor, the second good.

25 minutes elliptical, 15 stretch and crunch. Back to full volume on the new still-in-flux routine from Sunday... let's see what we can do in three and a bit weeks.

Incline DB Press 35x10, 9+f.

Lunges 20x5, 40x8.

Seated rows, wide 56x8, 98x10x2. Not done these before. The outer handles are thick and slippery. Not Zesty.

Wide Pulldowns 91x10x2. Again with the crappy handles.

10 minutes on the elliptical, stretching.

Today I have doms in the pecs and glutes, and a little in the lats and tris. But not enough to stop me playing basketball, so that's ok.

Squat 60x5x2, 100x3, 120x2x2, 135x1, 100x8x2. Each set sucked in its own different way apart from the 135, which was great. Interestingly, since the break I can now get a much closer hand position - my shoulders are a lot freer.

DB press 20x8, 32.5x10,9+f. Nice.

Narrow-grip seated rows 63x8, 98x10x2. I'm starting to feel the unaccustomed volume and frequency of lat-work now.

Assisted chins -15x3x3.

10 minutes on the elliptical, 15 stretching. Home via a lengthy haranguing by a mad person, details of which are on the blog (but not very funny, to be honest).

Rob - I'm going to go in and bench some time morning-noonish on Saturday and then go just to watch on Sunday. Want a ride, big boy?

Sure, sounds good. Can you get me from Fallowfied? I'm pretty much right on Wilbraham Road. I may well end up deadlifting on Saturday but I'll have to leave it to the afternoon at least. Doesn't suit mornings.

Olly also voiced some interest in attending but given the early start it remains to be seen.
