Wednesday 7th December.

Still seeing the physio every Wednesday for 30 minutes of "elbow in the buttocks" treatment for the Piriformis, it feels better for 24 hours then comes back!

Missed Friday due to the wife's works Xmas party.

Nothing too heavy until after Xmas. Piriformis is responding well to the treatment being received. Hope to get back on the deadlifts after Xmas as well. I might make Belfast yet!

Still keeping it light but the 150 felt like there was not a lot extra in the tank! Will have to build up slowly, i'll probably drop my plans to lift at the Masters and go straight for the All England.

Friday 23rd.

Just some feet up benching and hex bar pulls to register lifts in the Farms annual "Pig of a Lift" competition. Shouldn't have done the pulls, back was bad for days after!

Eleven (yes eleven) lifters at the Farm tonight, lots of lifters always makes for a good atmosphere. Too cold outside to go and get the scales.

About time I started on the deadlifts again, kept it light and concentrated on good form.

No issues, some back twinging later but not to much of an issue.

Reasonably happy with tonight session.

So i'm back to a 150 squat, 125 bench and 170 deadlift.
The 2017 plan is as follows.
160/127.5/190 by the end of Jan.
170/127.5/200 by the end of Feb.
180/130/210 by the end of March.
185/130/217.5 by the end of April.
190/130/225 by the All England. 545 total.
Probably a little optimistic but who know!

Another good turnout at the Farm, 10 lifters on the bars.
I knew that I should not have been too upbeat in my last post about the next few months progress, I've been unable to walk over the weekend! Back has gone back to square 1...
Weight 116.85kg. Sh*t, that is heavier than at any time in 2016! I reckon that I need to drop around 5kg this month as i'm feeling really lethargic and breathless at the moment.

Another reasonable turnout at the Farm, eight lifters.
Well so much for my optimism last Friday. My back has been so bad since that I was reduced to just benching tonight. My new theory is that my back is being aggravated by the size of my belly (and chins), so I've taken the decision to drop weight and try to compete in the 105's. It wont be a quick process but i'll try and make the 105's at the EM Masters in July.
Bodyweight today 115.95Kg.

Wednesday 11th January.

Back at the Physio today, he tells me that treating the Piriformis pain is not the solution and that the cause of the Piriformis is most likely crushed pads between my discs. They are making me an appointment to see the back surgeon prior to having a scan on my lower back.
Worse news, apparently arching my back when benching is only likely to aggravate the problem, so no deadlifts, no squats and no arched benching!!!

Monday 16th.

Turned up at the Farm, weighed in (115.25kg). Can't squat, can't deadlift, can't bench properly.

Feet up bench (keeping a flat back).

Wrist's hurt, shoulders hurt, back hurts, even legs hurt!
Gave up and went home.

I've got an appointment with the back surgeon for Feb 6th, will stay away until after that.
