Wednesday 10th May.

17 days until the All England, the plan is to simply make the M3 British Qualifying total for next year and this should be achieved with my openers.
Weight 118.2Kg.

Squat.
2 x 5 x 20
5 x 70
4 x 90
3 x 110
2 x 130
1 x 145
1 x 155
1 x 165
1 x 170
Every squat seriously deep.
First time ive gone this heavy for a good while.

Bench.
10 x 20
8 x 60
5 x 80
3 x 100
1 x 110 Paused under command.
1 x 117.5 Paused under command.
1 x 122.5 Paused under command.
5 x 102.5
3 x 5 x 90 Close Grip.
No issues.

Qualifying total for next year is 412.5Kg, in fact the equipped QT is just 515!
All England planned openers are 165/110/200 for 475
Then 175/120/210 for 505, probably wont take third lifts.
At the EM Masters in august i'd really like to hit 190/130/225 for 545.

Some top notch lifting, Ian.

Out of interest, what happened with the talks about tje club being shut down due to there not being enough income?

Still pretty much the same at the Farm Funky, just 5 lifters tonight so our income was £12.50 and our outgoings £25.00, over this week we have made an operating loss of £30. Whilst not every week is this quiet, multiply that by 52 and you can see why finances are so bad.

Fortunately we made a profit on running the All England of around £800, half of which we donated to English Powerlifting to help cover the team costs at the 4 nations.

Still watching your gym building exercise, respect for chasing your dreams, I really hope it all works out and hopefully i'll drop by sometime!

Friday 12th May,

Quiet at the Farm again tonight, just Forklift, Gordon, Little Stuart, Grants boy and yours truly.
Training on 2 black coffees and a Costa smoked salmon sandwich, which is everything I've consumed today.

5 x 110
3 x 140
1 x 160
1 x 175
1 x 190
1 x 205
2 x 190
3 x 175
Exactly what the book called for.

Bench.
10 x 20
8 x 60
5 x 80
3 x 100
2 x 110
1 x 120
1 x 127.5
1 x 132.5 Equals my all time best ever bench!
5 x 105
5 x 100 Close Grip.
132.5 bench can be seen here https://www.facebook.com/The-Farm-Powerlifting-Weightlifting-Club-1...

Your training has come on a lot from the beginning of the year and your back problem. Your bench in particular is flying

It only took 6 years from the shoulder injury to get back to where I was Bill!
I'm certainly not where I want to be yet, my aim is to hit 500 this weekend, 530+ in August, 540+ before the end of the year and 550+ next year (my first as an M3). Then i'll probably look to retire at the end of 2019.

Monday 22nd.
Last proper session before the All England.
Weight 118.8kg, whoops, heavy weekend.
Very hot under the Farm's tin roof.

Squat.
Target 2x doubles at 85% of opener.
2 x 5 x 20
5 x 60
4 x 100
3 x 120
2 x 130
2 x 2 x 140
Felt much tougher than I was expecting.

Bench.
Target is 3 paused singles just above opener.
10 x 20
8 x 60
5 x 80
3 x 100
3 x 1 x 112.5 Over Long Pause's.
Comfortable.

Deadlift.
Target 2x doubles at 85% of opener.
5 x 70
4 x 110
3 x 140
2 x 160
2 x 2 x 170
No problems.

Nothing other than stretching now until Saturdays warm-ups.

Update after this weekends All England Championships.

We set the gym up for the competition on Friday evening, starting at 4:30 and finally get everything in place by around 10PM.

Saturday: Master's & Junior Men.
Open up at 07:30 to weigh-in the lightweights, then refereed the first session.
My weigh-in was at 14:00. Started warming up around 5PM and my groups (120 & 120+) started lifting around 5:30PM.

Squat.
Warm-ups.
2 x 5 x 20
3 x 70
2 x 110
1 x 140
1 x 150
1 x 160
Platform.
165 - 3 whites.
175 - 3 whites.
Left it there, sticking to the plan at this point.

Bench.
Warm-ups.
10 x 20
5 x 60
1 x 90
1 x 100
1 x 110
Platform.
110 - 3 whites.
120 - 2 whites, no idea what the red was for.
125 - 3 whites.
This was the plan and i'm happy to have nailed the 125, my biggest competition bench for many years.

Deadlift.
Warm-ups.
5 x 60
3 x 100
1 x 140
1 x 160
1 x 180
Platform.
200 - 3 whites.
Now the plan was to go for a 210 then call it a day, however the M3 120Kg "equipped" British total is just 515kg, my ego talked me into asking for 215kg.
215 - 3 whites.
Now the 215 felt comfortable so I talked myself into a 3rd attempt, despite the book telling me to walk away.
222.5 - 3 reds, never really moved off the floor!

The moral of this story is "Stick to the plan", however i'm very satisfied with the 515 total and i'm certain that I left kilos on the platform.

We then went on to run the Senior Mens event on Sunday and all the Ladies events on Monday! Finally got away from the venue around 10:30PM. Then we were back for another 2 hours today to clear up the mess left behind! I reckon that I've put in a 47 hours over the past 5 days and lifted, not ideal!

Well done at the Competition, both on the platform and your work off it.
