Wednesday 7th Feb.

Just 7 lifters at the Farm tonight, very quiet!
Weighed in at 117.85kg.
This was just another "grind em out" session on squats and a relatively easy bench set.

Squat.
2 x 5 x 20
5 x 70
4 x 110
3 x 130
2 x 145
2 x 160
2 x 170
2 x 177.5
2 x 185
Video of the double at 185 is on the Farm's facebook page. Like Monday's treble at 175 I reckon this double equates to a single at 201.1, i'm not going too much heavier than this over the next three weeks but will hope to keep doing these double & treble reps.

Bench.
Shoulder a little better but still not right.

All touch n go tonight, shoulder okay during lifts but is feeling it now, 4 hours later.

Found out tonight that one of my competition has dropped down from the 120's into the 105's. Unfortunately that is both of the lifters ranked below me gone, so I've gone from being ranked 4th out of 6 to 4th out of 4. Still at least this means that I've not got to worry about anyone behind me and I can focus on beating those ahead!

Friday 9th Feb.

Bad day!
Thursday evening was spent with customers who kept me talking & drinking until well past midnight!
Got to the gym on Friday evening still feeling rough as hell.
Weighed in at 119.8kg. Much too heavy.
Deadlift.
2 x 5 x 70
5 x 110
3 x 140
Left it here and went home to bed.
Now i'm totally off the alcohol until March 8th.
Can't afford to miss any further training.

Monday 12th February.

Back on it tonight, weighed in at 118.80kg.

Squats.
2 x 5 x 20
5 x 70
4 x 110
3 x 130
3 x 140
3 x 150
3 x 160
3 x 170
3 x 177.5
The treble at 177.5 (178.5 with collars) was right on my limit, that said they were all good squats and according to the Finch formula that equates to a single at 204kg (my best ever squat is only 202.5kg).

No problems.

Just 7 lifters at the Farm.
Weighed in at 118.65kg.

2 x 170 This should have been 5x but ran out of steam!
No problems until the last set.

Thanks Bill & Funky. Straight after the Europeans i'm flying out to Cyprus for a weeks R&R, I'm guessing that Paphos is a long way from your place though!

Friday 16th February.

Again, just 7 lifters at the Farm.
After tonight there will be just two squat sessions and two deadlift sessions before the Europeans, I'll work some paused bench singles in amongst them.
Weighed in at 117.85kg.

Squats.
2 x 5 x 20
5 x 70
4 x 110
3 x 130
2 x 145
2 x 160
2 x 170
2 x 180
2 x 187.5 (188.5 if you count the collars). PB.
According to Red light Pete both the 187's were a good 1/2" under. So in my 60th year i've just hit a lifetime squat PB for a double. Just shows that your never to old to improve, the last time I was at this level was in 2011.

The competition plan for 2018 is:
March - European Masters.
May - All England.
August - EM Masters.
October - British Masters.
For the past 5 years or so I've only really done the EM Masters and the All England so this is a busy year for me.

Nine lifters at the Farm, almost break even point!
Weighed in at 117.80kg.
Not good tonight, tired and hungry. Never slept much last night and only eaten 2 slices of toast all day (I should be lighter than 117.8kg).

Deadlift

2 x 160
2 x 180

2 x 212.5 Failed miserably, never moved it off the floor.
Left the deadlifts here, I had intended to drop down and do some lighter reps but was busy with work earlier so got to the gym late and was rushing somewhat.

Wednesday 21st Feb.

Only 7 lifters at the Farm tonight but it felt like more!
Exactly two weeks until i'm lifting in Sweden so I decided that tonight was the night that I should give the new GB kit a first run out.
Weighed in at 118.85kg.

Squat.
2 x 5 x 20
5 x 70
4 x 110
3 x 130
3 x 145
3 x 160
3 x 170
3 x 180 (181 if you count the half kilo collars). Lifetime PB!
I've got to be happy with this, the Finch formula estimates that this equates to a single at 207kg. Strangely the 180's felt easier than the 160's.

just watched the squats , very smooth and you didn't look to be at your limit , very inspiring to see you hit lifetime pb's.

Both of the 182's were deep and came up but they felt really tough.
