I have been lightly training with an emphasis on keeping my body moving over strength.
I got really ill last December and it utterly wrecked me. Body is in tatters so everything I do now is about trying to keep the body moving and not seizing up.

These days My sessions go as follows.

Training not on a Friday:
20 minutes walking uphill on a treadmill at 140bpm
10 minutes biking at 140bpm
10 minutes on a stairmaster as many steps as I can climb in 10 minutes.

Sometimes I manage all 3 exercises. Sometimes I have to call it ten minutes into the first one and go home for a long sleep.

My stairmaster ability is how I mark my progress. When I started I was able to do 200 steps on 10 minutes. I got up to 600 before my health took a dip again and my most recent session was 525 steps in 20 minutes.

Training on a Friday

Yesterday was:

Squats

My knees are particularly bad these days so unfortunately my squat is extremely pitiful.
Sometimes I can't even sit 40kg on my shoulders because of the pain. Other days I can manage a little as I'm not in as much pain.

3 sets of 3 reps with 105kg

Bench press
4 sets of 15 reps with 75kg.

Grip work
Fatgrips deadlift hold.

49 seconds with 85kg
35 seconds with 85kg
20 seconds with 105kg
15 seconds with 105kg
5 seconds with 105kg

Conclusion
Believe it or not this is a hell of a lot better than where I was a few months back.
In April I wasn't able to walk to the corner shop without a visit to the hospital afterwards.

The mantra is keep on going.

Hi Wieg Happy

The supplements have had a noticeable effect?

That's actually some decent reverse grip benching! I don't reckon I could do that (now).

Mr Wayne! A pleasure to see you and I hope you're well!

I was thinking of you the other day when I was thinking about getting some finger extensor bands.

This post'll be a little long but is my experience of supplements so far....

When I was young and healthy, I progressed at about 2.5 kg a week on 5s if I was lucky. I'd oftrn have to repeat weeks. I was once stuck on 112.5kg squat for 5x5 and that went on for over a month. I always gained strength very slowly and when training hard, my max tracked out at going up around 1kg per week of training.

This year I was stuck at 100kg squats since January until June and couldnt progress past triples even though I ate a lot of food (now 118kg bodyweight)

Since I got the supplements like 6 weeks back, I've been easily able to jump 5kg a week on my 5s.
I'd have to say that my first adventure into supplements has seen me get the best gains of my life by far.

Reverse grip bench came about from getting tennis elbow at work.

Again, pleasure to see you Mr Wayne.

Happy

Great news about the effect of the supplements. I've never had any myself and have always been sceptical about them, feeling that they aren't in a natural form and believing that a half decent diet should take care of things, but they are clearly working for you Happy

I stopped training my finger extensors quite a while ago. I found that the bands have a limited lifespan and I started wondering if training them was a productive use of my time. I have been enjoying using Fat Gripz recently, especially the Extreme ones, and I think they've had a positive effect on my forearms.

I was using the fat grips for a bit too and did find them very good! For quite a while it was the only improvement I saw in my training and it definitely makes a difference when swinging the sledgehammer at work and carrying all of the awkward s**t!

Anyway, I have a song for the day.

18 INCH DEADLIFT

1 set of 10 reps with 155kg
Set 2 I was in too much pain to get off the ground.
4 sets with 125kg

My back isn't ready for the 155kg.
I'll have to build up slower.
I asked Jesus for advice and he gave me an answer.

This video is set number 5 after I dropped down to 125kg.
This is more like what my lower back can actually handle.
