How has your 2012 gone? Did you meet targets? Achieve goals? Suffer injuries? Progress or regress?

Chuck in a paragraph about your year.

I started off well with a 2nd place in Mids strongest man, put in an average performance for a top 10 finish at Bodypower and then scraped into the ESM final where I once again avoided last place. Suffered 2 fairly substantial injuries with a hamstring and a quad tear, and an ongoing flair up of elbow problems. I didn't make as much progress with my static numbers as I would have hoped as a result (although blasting through the 700lb uneq deadlift barrier was a highlight) , but am a better strongman and learned a lot about how I respond to different methods. Overall not bad, but must do better!

Welcome 2013! Grin

my main goal this year was to get the back sorted which it more or less is just having a few issues with the SI joints (could be linked to the initial problem or could be something new)

But bench 210kgs this year was aiming for 220
Squatted 240 with a belt and wraps so pleased with that,
Beltless squat of 190 so really happy with that.
Deadlifting i was aiming for 250 and i hit it this year.

all in all 2012 was a good year for me especially with the last 4 being pretty s**t.

2013 is about addressing my weaknesses and getting on the Power Lifting Platform to eaith just do a full comp of just a bench comp. Still haven't seen date yet.

2012 Started quite well, but then I generally got worse as it progressed
My best comp was my first, 3rd at the SSM qual, oh then won a fun comp in Aberdeen, but finished off being rubbish at the UK qual. Picked up several niggly injuries through the year.
Taught me quite a lot though
1. I'm fat, and that is currently being addressed
2. I can't do as many comps as I did this year and perform well at all of them
3. I should concentrate on having fun more(entirely in fact), after all that's why we do this

I only started training again in June of this year following a lengthy layoff. At that point I was fat, unhealthy with severe gastrointestinal issues and weak.
Since then I have trained with great consistency and have managed to obliterate all my old PB's by some margin as well as massively improve my health.
I have learned how to train properly and have acquired a great coach, mentor and mate in Mr Martin.
In terms of competition I am the current and reingning BDFPA North West Champion (LOL) at 82.5kg and finished in 3rd place at the GBPF North West Championships in the 93kg class. I have qualified for the British Championships in both federations with less than 6 months of consistent training.

I have had a really amazing 6 months from my perspective and I am really looking forward to breaking through some more PB's next year.

The whole beginnin of the year I had a back injury, however once I got over this my squat and deadlift went up loads. I then paid tom to make me strong and they went up some more. Unfortunately my bench has pretty much stayed the same (except from when I'm weaRing a bench shirt). I also started competing which is pretty nice. I look forward to gaining in 2013

Good idea.

The year was the first since 2006 that I was rid of old injuries and feeling competitive. Kicked off with 2 equipped meets with the BDFPA, both in coventry. 260/130/260 at the first, the bench was raw (don't ask). Then went and bombed at the nationals. The rest of the year was mostly high frequency training, sometimes AM and PM sessions. Also had a 3 month stint of WSB where I got sort of strong but it all went a bit s**t really.

Injury free, and looking forward to finally nailing some raw PR's in 2013.

One thing I have learned is that I still don't know very much! So it's great to have a forum like this to talk s**t with you guys. Love you all xx

I started 2012 as a hairy snapped-back t**t and im finishing it as a less snapped back but still hairy t**t.

I have only done one competition, a small charity competition which was quite fun.

Have I got better? I think so. I weigh roughly the same as I did towards the end of 2011, but my log is now 125 where it was ?105 in 2011. I have put up PBS in the bench press, strict press, push press and btn push press. No overall squat PB probably due to not squatting in wraps all year but high bar squat and front squat have gone up and the deadlift is back where it was and on the up.
Events have improved 300-320 yoke is no longer a daunting task.

Am I happy with my progress? Not really, this has been somewhat of an eye opener. I could and should have improved more than this. Overhead progress was plentiful but f**k all else really. I did hVe two months off on holiday in the middle, but that's not enough to account for this.

2013- year where I stop being a dick. VG I shall be employing your services officially from here on, guide me gorilla.

Had a year off from strongman this year to break in to powerlifting and bring up my gym lifts and try and break some pressing recoreds. Had a really good year strength wise

Broke GBPF record in the bench on my first meet and then when on to top that record and win my next two powerlifting shows .

Squatted 340kg in wraps and front squatted 289kg

Became the first guy in UK to double the 105kg millenim dumbell and strict press a 100kg dumbell with one arm .

Overhead pressed 192.5 kg on a bar

Serious back problems with reccurring sciatica have hampered being able to train my deadlift atall .

I've had a good year.

Stopped lifting Dec 2010 for various reasons. Picked it up again Feb this year and I'm about as strong as I've ever been. I've got the lifting bug back again and I feel healthy most of the time. I think I can continue to slowly make improvements training this way.

Decided to man up and enter under 105 Northerns.
Damaged nerves in hand taking p a slate floor, got called gay hands a lot because I couldn't do farmers.
Finally got a 100kg log pressed.
Went on Jury service, missed 2 weeks training just before 105 Northerns, lost strength and pussied out of comp.
On and off back and AC joint problems then affected heavy training.
Decided to get a bit fitter and leaner so have lost about 10kg, feel better, abs almost 'in'. lol Strength slowly coming back but still need to address niggles.

So...strength wise not great, but not too bothered, feeling better and I don't wobble much these days. Still hoping for a 260 deadlift and 200+ squat and 160 bench eventually, but hopefully without getting fat.

bad first half, good second half of the year for me.

just about recovered from a knee injury that stopped me squatting for 9 months, but since Sept have been smashing PBs regularly Happy

Put 50kg on my competition total, didn't quite meet my overall total aim for the year - but I will smash that at my next comp in Feb. I think one of the best things I did was give up the yoyo dieting!

I also learnt that Coventry is a black hole for training, so I have to travel to better places

Roll on next year.

Not a great start of year for me
Unemployed at the beginning of the year
Job i picked up only lasted 2 months
Training has been inconsistant throughout
Having bad time living in small flat with partner
Hugely overweight 23st 10 at heaviest

But some positives
New job now seemingly secure
Getting back into training be it with a few hickups
Moved home to larger semi detached
Dropped nearly 4 stone in weight
Some increases in strength although had hopes for a 600kg total this year

Top 3 at Ives u90 (weighing 80kg!) won BSM u80kg, won northerns u90kg came 2nd at ESM. Won dragons a second time, wernt to Europes and got injured but had a blast!

Made some good gains in my conditioning and events work, statically disbt improve that much but my strongman game increased as a whole
