Very mixed bag for me. Struggled with injuries all year. Didn't perform as well as I should have based on what shape I was in at the Arnold's, europes and wsm. Positive side I know I am still up there with the very best in the world when fit and healthy, I felt in my mind at wsm if things had been different (food poisoning and bicep tear) I could possibly have won. Mentally have done a lot of soul searching this year and feel in a good place to push forwards next year.

Goals for 2013, continue in my process of being more healthy (eating better, carrying on not smoking and doing more conditioning), get myself in the best shape ever for europes and wsm, keep positive people in my life and take no notice of the negative ones, get on the powerlifting platform at some point and finally try to give a bit more back to the sport in some ways.

Started training Strongman in March 2012 and have made great gains so far.

Added 50kg to my Deadlift.
Added 15kg to my Squat.
Added 15kg to my Bench.
Added 17.5kg to my Stict Press.

Had a really bad muscle tear in my lower back around August 2012 and have made a full recovery. Entered my first Strongman comp, finished 5th and have definitely caught the Strongman Bug! Also helped run the first ever Kernow Show of Strength which was a massive success! Roll on 2013 Happy

2012 will be my throw away year when I compare it to 2011 which was by far my best year of lifting

lost focus
stopped training as hard / intense
went after numbers not tropheys
got injured
didnt listen to my body

forward to 2013 that will be my year

Great to hear Terry! You're due a WSM title now and I'm sure you can do it. Excited to see what you can put down in a PL comp, deadlift especially.

Injury free and add a few kgs to the overhead, you could win Wsm 2013 judging by this years performance.

Thinking that bigger meant better, I put on weight stupidly quickly and instantly knew I made a mistake going so fast. My static increase was immense but tying my laces induced cardiac arrest. Since then, lost 10kg, more mobile, a lot healthier. Entered my first strongman comp, didnt come last, performed as well as I knew I could and had fun. Met loads of new friends through the sport which is probably the best bit tbh. Injury free too. Hammered my technique on the big 3 ready for a go at powerlifting next year. Very happy Happy.

2012....

Entered my first strongman comp and came second - thought I was awesome
Entered my second comp and came tenth - thought I was s**t
Decided I am s**t and too old for strongman and went back to weightlifting

Entered the northern masters weightlifting comp and became regional champ in my age & weight class and amazingly there were actually other lifters in the same class so it wasn't a default win!! Grin

End of 2012 - just decided to enter my first powerlifting comp in March 2013. This will be the year I can say I been a competitive bodybuilder, weightlifter, strongman AND powerlifter and that I'm crap at it all............I'm taking up golf!!!

2012 has been awesome for me. Started strength training in January. Lifts have gone from:

120kg to 242.5kg squat
120kg to 160kg bench
150kg to 235kg dead

I also won gpc british and world championships for 90kg teens and set 3 world records and 5 british records on the way

Couldn't really be happier

Mixed one really, competing wise bad, only did half the naturals spent 2 days stressing about the cut – got it but was “cardiokilled”
Lifting highlights, 150kg paused bench, 110kg strict log, 125kgs farmers with a 30second hold – lots of Zerching!!! Chasing the 120kg OHP and 180kg squat before the end of the year.
Had a bad back injury which put me out for a few weeks also re-started training BJJ to help with cardio and grip.
Looking forward to 2013 aims are to keep the weight between 105-110kgs. Compete in a couple of 105 comps and a BJJ comp.
Body is getting older now so need to train / compete smart.

2012 has been my first full year back in proper strength training after my accident and mass weight loss the previous few years. I've gone from a 240kg deadlift to my lifetime goal of 272.5kg (600lbs), got my squat up to 210kg from 175kg and got my bench from a tough 125kg to 145kg just today. I've found a training system that works for me and my strength and conditioning has hit an all time high, now looking forward to 2013 where i plan on PL for the first time and hitting a 300kg deadlift at some point.
