Nice vids. That quarter-angle is actually pretty interesting.

Not good news for the sport or the friendely games unfortunately

Depends. Who was the fight with? Was it a good fight? Who won?

In a perfect world the answers would be -
John McEwan
Yes
John McEwan

It was Gareth Evans that got headbutted. Aussie bloke was bronze medalist at 77, head butting Gaz (62k), bit of a mismatch. Had it been John McEwan I think the story would have had a different ending.

Evans is a Hollyhead lad. They don't mess about. I'm sure he'd have done ok.

Getting back to the rules, I used to think about the validity of certain ones that seem to be there for the sake of it. I don't personally see any benefit in the knee touch rule whether a lifter does it or has a lift ruled out for doing it or not. I used to think the same regarding the lockout/ pressout until I read the following article by Giles Greenwood. Giles is a lot more cleverer than I am and I can't argue with his logic in this argument. His example of Chemerkin is inspired. I've decided that sometimes it's good to have an opinion that no one cares about, especially me.

That is a very good point about Chemerkin.

Not that I've read the article... But other than Chemerkin...(and Georgia Azinadze my hero) do we have any more than two people that can rack a clean without to giving the shoulders...?

Just a thought

I may well read article at done point but I suspect I known what it was getting at and indeed the amount of individuals we a actually making reference to

This is of course off the back of done very good refereeing regarding foot pavements and very bad refereeing regarding "press outs" that were shoulder movements...

Lots of people could rack a clean off the shoulders if they wanted to, obviously dont do it now because its a disadvantage

Regarding rules, I have really badly hurt myself hitting elbows on knees when cleaning. So it's good to discourage it.

However I don't for one minute think we would have a flock of people suddenly deciding to do this if the rule wasn't there. It's always an accident and surely won't happen any more often if the rule was changed.

I don't actually think the rule SHOULD be changed, that's none of my business! But the argument for why there is a rule isn't a very good one.

I think it would also be interesting to see what guys today can snatch without the bar touching the body at all (ie no hip contact), as used to be the case. I know a few lifters who use it as a variation every now and then.

Vardanian also seems to like 'no feet' snatches too.

No I meant the fact that even with the bar racked it is not touching the shoulders

Again as the athletes mention lift on their cleans... Or rather did when the both lifted
