Has anyone seen the helmet cam video of "David" the video has been realesed to raise awareness on road safety. As a biker myself it sent a shiver down my spine the situation that unfolded is the scenario that I dread every time I go out on my bike. Its made me think what are your thought?

The lesson I took from it was that both him and the driver of the car were idiots.

The driver didn't see him. Surely going 97mph really does NOT help the situation.

I saw 97mph in the title struggle to get past that. I watched the video to see it was a single lane carriageway.

Tragic someone has died, but I don't think any lessons will be learned.

He was speeding yes but apart from that I wouldn't say he was riding like an "absolute f**king idiot". His overtaking manouvre was safe enough.

At 97mph he was probably taking it pretty steady too.

I hate fast-bikers on the road. They are selfish ar****les.

They should ban these c**t-guided missiles.

Probably a nice lad, but thankfully he only killed himself.

He was going far too fast approaching a junction, if the car hadn't have pulled across him then another could've just as easily emerged from the junction..

The video is shocking but will hopefully make people think is it worth it riding so fast on the road?? Do a track day and leave it there.

I never rode stupidly, I'm not sure I'd have a bike again though as I have a family to think about now. I was out riding with some mates a fair few years back now and one of them came off around a sweeping bend which tightened, his bike flew into a field and he hit a tree and died there in front of us. It was enough to put me off and I got rid, but I've had another bike since.

I rode fairly stupidly and broke my spine + shoulder coming off at a corner. Hind sight is something I'm very glad still to have...

A life was lost, car shouldn't have pulled out, but the biker was pushing his luck. Sad all round.

Hi guys. He worked at my company and a few of mu surrounding colleagues knew him well. I didn't. Also, and clearly because of the closeness of the situation - I felt very cold watching the video first hand.
I thought about trying to make excuses on his behalf out of sympathy but that wouldn't be right. I hope to take my license and test very soon so something like this is a wake up call. I drive alert and concentrating in a car, you need twice your wits on a bike.
Many car drivers get away all the time driving fast but the bike is a different story.
I hope I, or anybody else I know stays safe.

Could happen to any biker or performance car owner really. Probably won't make much difference.

97mph on a single dual carriageway where maximum speed is 60mph or 50mph if restricted?

AM I reading this right?

"Pretty steady"...for an idiot yes. The car had no chance of seeing him. I've had a few close calls by not seeing bikers and held off moving only to see them coming past pretty fast.

He was subject to Darwins theory of evolution and his genes were expelled from the gene pool. Thats nature's way of saying; too bad you're an idiot..

Plenty of race tracks open for this kind of riding, and in response to his overtake was safe, he overtook on chevrons, which is illegal, as it was also the approach to the junction.
Fairly s**t way to go, but his speed could have taken people with him too!
