I reckon that I'll now stick with the 18 inch deadlifts and the deficit pulls but I thought that I'd try a few other heights along the way. The mini-experiment seemed to confirm what I already thought - I'm OK from mid-shin and onwards but weak from the floor. I'm hoping that the deficits will help the weakness and the 18 inch work will familiarise my system with heavier loads.

Sounds like a solid plan to me.

I've done some decent training since I last recorded anything here. The highlights have included:

18 inch deadlift: 315 kg

14 inch deadlift: 280 kg

Deadlift from the floor: 265 kg - much easier than the previous time that I pulled this weight.

Purely to feel a sense of accomplishment, a 300 kg deadlift from the floor has become the only thing - regarding lifting - that I'm bothered about achieving. After that point, I think that I might just 'retire' and take up knitting.Happy

Deadlift

275 kg x 1

I didn't get a video but I plan to record bigger lifts in the upcoming months so today's lack of evidence will become irrelevant.Happy

Just for a bit of a change, I thought that I'd do a bit of deadlifting. The aim was to nail 280kg but my final warmup suggested that would have been unlikely. I went for this 272.5 instead:

I had man flu for most of the week but got some training in on Thursday and Friday. I performed some decent front squats, along with some reasonable power jerks. Starting from next week, I'm going to move away from deadlifting heavy singles but I had another go at trying to nail a decent 1RM. I failed 280kg on three occasions. Strangely, the final attempt was the closest.

It's mediocre compared to many on here but this was a goal of mine for a long time. I finally managed to string together enough training to achieve it Wink

Strong pressing Pete, I bet you're well pleased with that? How are the jerks going?

Cheers, as I said, it was a goal for (probably) too long but now that it's ticked off I'm chuffed to bits - I still want to get much stronger though. I've hugely improved my strict pressing too but I've not done much split jerking recently.

I've not attempted these replicas for quite a while but I was quite pleased with this lift. The front pin is loaded to 190kg and the back pin totals 150kg. I now need a holiday so that I attempt the actual Dinnie Stones.
