As title

After I come back of holiday I think I might pay someone who knows what they are doing to write me a program and tell me what to do generally (I already have an offline wife that does a lot of telling but hey).

I have an expectation that I will give them details about myself and they will make some smart choices for me to help me meet my goals.

Is this the case or are my expectations wide of the reality mark here?

Cheers boyos

I learned a lot. With a good coach you can get more than just the routine, you can learn principles behind why the choices are being made. Then you can take that forward. I would recommend it.

I was with Tom Martin off this forum.

I've looked into it and it's something that interests me but it seems f**king expensive

I was coached online when starting out as I knew no one who done powerlifting at my gym. Learnt tons about how to train properly and solidified form.

Only done it for a few months and stopped it due to a niggly injury but was making good progressive gains which I hope will continue. Highly recommend for novices when getting started.

This is something I'm thinking of getting into so any opinions on what people like/dislike would be useful. Some guys charge massive amounts and dont have alot of back and forth with their lifters but some guys really know their stuff and can get really good results. I know Tom offers a really in depth service for a good price.

Would be interested. Who from this forum does it?

At the risk of stating the obvious whether it is any good will depend on the ability of the online coach you choose, so word of mouth / referrals would be the way I would go over and above choosing a big name lifter per se - although of course there are many who have credentials in both camps.

I think it depends to a large degree what you want to get out of it.

I do quite a bit of online coaching (Gorilla PT) and it takes several formats, most involving online programming on a 4 week mesocycle basis. Video analysis of lifting, and where possible / relevant regular live sessions for more effective input in certain areas also get included, as does food diary amd competition taper / coaching.

I think as a cost cutting exercise it is a brilliant way of working, although you won't get the same results as working directly with a coach 5 times a week, it is a lot cheaper! You also get chance to work with coaches that woukd not be geographically possible otherwise.

Thinking of going down that road as well. VG, Tom Martin, Tom Hibbert (Winning Health Solutions ad banner), AMH_Power, IrishMarc and probably a few others that I'm forgetting offer those kinds of services.

Some great names there and I bet all could help get good gains.

I offer online coaching - too many offer just online programming.

My advice is look for an online coach not just a programmer. You should find someone who offers more than just a rep and set scheme but someone that can support, check in with you and advise.

It's also not for everyone, if you're strict with yourself and able to stick to a plan then a online coach is great but if you get distracted or stray easily then following someone elses plan probably isn't for you and try to find a 121 coach instead.

What does the support consist of? And what's the prices roughly?
