Oh, yeah, the dehydration is a killer. A 150kg dude can lose 15kg in a matter of days!

Reminds me of Mike Jenkins losing 20kg at WSM 2013 in China, food poisoning and the weather ruined him. He looked awful going into the stones in his heat.

Yeah, when you're huge a simple virus can take it's toll on the body big time. I am no Jenkins but I am 5'9'' and over 24 stone. Jenkins was one of my favourite strongmen - 185x5 standing strict press. Dude was like a real life superhero! The health issues he had in China may well have contributed to his passing. So sad either way.

Yeah I think he might've been mine bar Terry. Would be up there competing for the title now if he was still about.

Yeah I want any english guy to win. Time was his attitude rubbed me up the wrong way a bit, shouting about how light everything was and then not making it out of the heats. I suppose you need that self belief though and as he's got so strong that what he was saying is true, he doesn't seem to say it as much.
The reason I like Terry is a think he's a great strongman, not the strongest man, but good at the sport. A naturally huge guy who is great and carrying things and lifting stones and cars etc.

Tried benching. Left shoulder wasn't having any of it. So spat my dummy out, threw my toys out the pram, and trained some lats instead. Need to sort this ongoing issue out, I am currently a worse presser than Shaw.

When you cannot perform one of the 3 lifts you are judged on pain free, it really makes you want to jack it all in. Living on cheap juice and food has caught up with me I think. It is time to think carefully about where to go from here. Working an extra shift would allow me to afford both physio and low dose hgh which in all honesty I think I need. Success at advanced level depends purely how many pounds you are willing to throw to the cause. Sad but I really do feel this is the case for amateur competitors. With a wedding to pay for still now is not the time to throw pay packet after pay packet on drugs and physio though. I consider 880kg raw a decent achievement with no sponsorship. Worldwide most 2000lb raw guys have some help. Be it a little with supps or a doc/physio that looks after them. I made it with none of that just working buying my own drugs and cooking my own meals. To get to 950-1000 i believe physio is a necessity so meed to find 40 ish a week extra from somewhere.
Jabbing and being fat as phuck both really annoy me when progress is slow and it makes you question what is the phucking point. Still sluggish from flu aswell even with vitamin shots.

This is a great post. Too many fake nattys and guys that claim they use next to nothing.

To be the best, you need to do the same as others.

I was chatting to a junior bodybuilding/powerlifting champion the other day.

He has packed in the bodybuilding. I ask him why? He said he can't afford the growth that is required to go to the next level.

Juice and hard training Is not enough at national level.

Sponsorships or being rich are definitely needed for these sports.

If you're feeling s**t and injured wouldn't coming off everything for a while help? Spend the money on physio and have a reset on the body.

I think you already have the answer in your head Sam.

You said it yourself as sad as it is you need big bucks to be on top at any untested level these days.
Say you have a bit more cash to spend on training aids at what point would you be happy decide you have gone far enough? quite possible your body would take that decision away from you.
You have admittedly already suffering health issues from your usage, things will only get worse.
Walking around at 150kg is putting a huge strain on your heart regardless of whether its muscle or not.
You may not think of training as just a hobby but unless your earning cash from lifting weights then that's all it is, took me a few years to suss that one out BTW.
Your still young enough to shift some body-weight and still be strong with it, your not exactly going to look like matchstick man are you!
Finally don't think Mrs Fat Sam to be or any any future Little Fat Sams would want you ending up as the strongest man in the graveyard.

You're all right. Tbh I have just had a bad month with a nasty flu and trying to train dehydrated and with a chest infection just wasn't my best idea.

I can't afford physio or pharma gh. With those I honestly believe I could total 1000kg raw... I am gonna spend a while getting healthy then push for 950. I am currently cruising on 300mg test a week and feel flat, fat and deflated. Considering adding peptides as they are cheap and supposedly great for the immune system and injuries. I have had reasonable results from them before injury wise. So we'll see....

Anyway, it's another Saturday night stood in a doorway to fund my hobby. Earlier on I did cg inclines, 140x9. Will get 20 reps on this with 140 when healthy and back on.

Well I had my first planned paid show lined up and was in bed with 40 degree fever so couldn't do it.
