I know it's not that heavy compared to most on here but I was pretty happy to hit this the week of my fiftieth birthday.
Training has been getting noticeably harder the last couple of years (more niggling injuries, harder to recover, feeling like you're working harder to just stand still etc) and I'll admit I have been tempted by the idea of finally reaching for the 'special supplements'. However, I got talked into postponing that in favour of actually making a better effort to eat more and get my bodyweight consistently over 92ish instead of sitting at about 88kg year round. That in itself has been a challenge ...who knew that getting fat was such hard work!
Anyway, here's the 240. Apologies for the involuntary vocals :P

Very nice squat, some more there.

Did you say you are 15?? Yes it's pretty damn hard to get fat, in fact, it took me about 15 years.

Cheers. I agree that the fact I was able to power up with no stall point and decent bar-speed suggests there might be a bit more. However, I definitely didn't feel all that stable under the bar after the unrack and that probably made the descent a bit hesitant and literally felt like I might die hahaha.
As for being 15 ....I wish!
No, I'm 50 on this coming Thursday :'(

You'd think that increase in the squat might carry over to my deadlift
... no sign yet :'(

Ah, total miss read haha good going at 50

Squat doesn't have to carry over to deadlift, it often doesn't, depends on a bunch of things.

If you are feeling unstable and get that 'f**k this is heavy' feeling on squats, a good thing to do is do some paused half squats pausing on pins. Key is to walk them out. You will lift much heavier weights so normal squat walk outs / setup gets much easier and mentally you think of the weight as a lot lighter. Also good for the CNS.

I think it all depends upon how you squat mate....my squat always sits around 90-100kg under my deads..increasing squats has never really done a whole lot.

I will try and get some of those in.
The last time I did them it coincided with my trying out squatting in flats and I ended up with some lower back issues I blamed on the pin squats but in hindsight was more likely the switch to flats.

I squat fairly narrow and tbh have generally seen my deadlift go up alongside my squat by about +20kg. I think some of this is down to me not really addressing problems with my deadlift though if I'm honest.
I should really prioritise the deads for a bit I guess.
I only train 3 days a week now so sometimes fitting everything in can be an issue.
#excuses :P

Very kind of you to say so.
I've put a fair bit of work into improving my barpath on my squat as I used to fail reps with the bar dumping forward at a fairly high stall point.
At least if I fail one now I can be fairly sure it's just because I'm not strong enough.
Dare I dream about 250 in time for the British next year?
I'd probably need to be hitting doubles or triples at 230 ...that almost sounds doable ....from the safety of my keyboard hahaha

Cheers!
I'd swap some of that squat to be nearer to your deadlift though tbh Wink
