Needs must, the garage is completely detached from my house and across a road so there is no electricity. At this time of year with no lamp it is pitch black in there. I usually have my headphones in so for me it's not silent, it would be much harder without them. I remember the Ox Box, must have been similar for you. Very similar mate though I ran electric up to it so I had a strip light and my stereo in there. Miss that old place

Squats are feeling good at the moment, seems odd that they were once a hated lift. I've been training at home so long I've forgotten what it's like to train anywhere else. I may book a month here and there in the gym near work but only if I have a specific reason for doing so. Most gyms near where I live are right in the city centre so it would be a real arse ache to train. The travel time alone would add an extra 20 minutes (at least). This might seem a bit out there but I think training at home is good for resourcefulness and mental toughness. I have no heat and a lamp in my garage. In winter it is cold, dark and wet. Today I trained outside in the wind and rain. This is great! If I can train and get result in these conditions then I am overcoming the weights and the environment. Many would see this as negative but to me this is a huge advantage.

Damned hard but they are helping my form. The decent isn't too bad but as soon as start to come back up I just want to explode. Really have to concentrate to keep the tempo. Loads of time under tension for the legs as well.

How did you get on? They do mate, legs on fire. The grading date is 18 March, I going to make a call on 11 February when i have the pre-grading assessment. If I feel I have a chance I will go for it but if I feel dubious I will hold off until the October grading.

KB Swings 7.5kg x 30 reps A1 EZ Curls A2 Deadlift --All reps Hook grip 70kg x 5 reps 120kg x 5 reps 160kg x 2 reps --Belt on 180kg x 1 rep 200kg x 1 rep 230kg x 1 rep 250kg x 1 rep --Hook Grip PB by 20kg. Felt very slow but the video shows it was reasonably fast. Grip was secure, I've tweaked the form a bit, I internally rotate to get a deeper position then externally rotate to engage the lats. I should be able to start on reps again soon.

Cheers mate, it's definitely a better position for me although I've not optimised it yet. These last few weeks have been about finding out what I can do and getting used to the pain. I'll need to reduce the weight severely for my repping sets until I'm used to the new grip and form. I think I will do paused reps while I adjust seems a sensible choice.

One I am still learning. Once your thumb is in the right place (you know the wrong one instantly) and you grip hard enough that there can be no movement it's not too bad. It hurts more when I let go than during the lift. Right now it's easier to go heavy than it is to hit reps. I think that's due to movement which tells me I could get tighter. It all feels worthwhile though.
