Recently life has hit me pretty hard so I can no longer enjoy luxuries food wise and have to be careful money wise.

I eat mostly cheap Tesco spaghetti 500g for 20p. Carbs are cheap. Rice or noodles for a change.

For fats I use fish oil , olive oil and peanut butter.

Protein is where it gets expensive. I use whey, egg whites and kefir.

I drink orange juice as it's cheap cals and improves digestion. Cranberry juice around training.

For veg I buy it frozen and chuck it in a smoothie when I can be bothered.

I drink gold top milk at bedtime, 800cals for a quid and good quality nutrients in jersey milk.

At work I neck these nourishment cans. They're £1 a pop and basically 20g protein 50g carbs 10g fat in one mouthful.

Once a week I'll eat out and get a f**k off 3 course meal.

I maintain 160kg on these foods and recently squatted 400kg. The kefir is the most expensive thing here but i need it for digestion. Probably spend about £15 per day on food atm which ain't bad for 8-11k daily depending on where I am in comp prep

You say this, yet almost everyone on this thread is telling you it is not the case.

And indeed, the reason you give is time, not cost. So is it really more affordable, or is it, as everyone else is saying, just easier?

Does your partner eat similarly to you?

Sticking a £1.50 pizza in the oven is the easiest fastest and cheapest way of eating 1000kcals. It's why people do it. The macro breakdown isn't even that bad either.

Again going back to what I eat, takes 20 - 30 mins to prepare meals on Sunday. Two minutes in the microwave at work and I have a hot healthy meal quicker than it takes for colleagues to go across the road to the garage and buy a chocolate bar and sandwich

and lots of time to go to multiple outlets inc markets?... Id say most people have less time as well as less money. For example, Im often conflicted between going to the gym or spending time with my family...plus I fooked after working now.

A pack of harribo usually picks me up when Im knackered or have the hump...

more and more as I read through these posts healthy eating appears to be more a socioeconomic issue. No way black and white.

My partner probably eats about a third of the quantity I do but has more time so manages to make herself much nicer meals at night.
Time for me is the real issue like you said. If I had a lot of free time I would cook in bulk and do more food prep but mostly I'm at work like just now on my first coffee break so £3 tesco meal deal that my mate picked up on the way in it is.

When I had more time I used to do a bulk cook on my second day off but I'm not rich enough for 2 days off anymore unfortunately so it costs a bit more.

And she doesn't cook you anything?

When my partner started a new job recently I cooked all her meals as I had the time to do so. Bit of teamwork wouldn't go amiss. Tell her I said so! Grin

This! It takes negligibly more time to make 2 meals than it does 1.

My wife does all of my cooking, the vast majority of which is done in the space of 1 afternoon at the weekend.

Four of my 5 meals a day consist of oats, whey and olive oil. Whilst I accept that this is far from normal- it's cheap and calorie dense.

I think you need to define 'healthy eating' before any conclusions about cost can be examined...
