Bim said:Hey Pete, you should try getting a little psyched up for your top lifts (if you don't already). I know we have chatted briefly about this in the past, but seriously, if I get in the right frame of mind before my top sets it almost feels like its cheating sometimes, and it makes a big difference to confidence and how I can handle the weights. Just a thought anyway, I know it's not for everyone.

This is a hugely interesting post

I have always been a believer in a sort of "bridge of the starship Enterprise" scenario happening in my head. The captain knows. Simple as that, if you have convinced him through the medium of training - not just what you lift but how you lift it, that a certain weight can be done, then it can. If you have not, then it can't. The captain is never swayed one jot by shouting and screaming and stamping, nor does he care what the crew want or think, he has seen what he has seen and on the basis of that and that alone - He knows. He doesn't think, he knows.

I'm not sure that I can do this but I can try.

"Almost feels like cheating" was the phrase that stopped me dead in my tracks. Thank you Bim.

There is a ST scene (possibly one of the films) where Spock is in charge and basically uses all the fuel to warp several hundred yards to allow his ship to be seen (or something like this). He was indeed seen and his ship and crew rescued. When asked why he allowed his emotions to rule his actions he answered along the lines of "An act of desperation was the only logical course of action". This has very little to do with Deadlifts, but the power of basic natural emotion is often understated in our slack jawed faggotty civilised lives.

Good luck with the plans. To quote Sun Tsu "Victorious warriors win first and then go to war, while defeated warriors go to war first and then seek to win".

Thank you, the ST story may have little to do with deadlifting but Sun Tzu strikes a chord, the quote above is well worth remembering. I will be very surprised if I don't find a use for it

That’s from an episode called “Galileo Seven” from the first season of the original series.

good episode, one of my favourites - at the end Mckoy loves the fact that the human, gut feeling side of Spock comes out, what with the two of them comstantly bickering about what is best: logic or emotion.

That's some serious Star Trek knowledge. A man who has a favourite episode maybe didn't have to look that up ?

He does, but Spock still maintains the logical arrogance as he genuinely believes that panicking was the only course. Great dynamic between them.

Whilst the curious side of me wants you to pull over and ask him why, another part of me thinks that maybe he doesn't know that he is getting so famous and may adapt his behaviour. Better we designate him an area of natural curiosity and view him from a distance. Like we should do with the Galapagos islands. If you do decide to ask him, there's no harm in sharing his response I guess, but if you know then your mornings lose some of their allure and mystery.

Wednesday, 18th July, start 16:30

Bench, very raw
20 x 15
20 x 15
20 x 15
50 x 5
60 x 5
70 x 3
80 x 3
90 x 2
100 x 2
110 x 2
120 x 2
125 x 2
115 x 2
115 x 2
115 x 2
The 120 double was really rather good, so much so that I decided to omit the 122.5 and go straight to 125, the first was surprisingly easy, the second one wasn't, that was a very slow, drawn out affair, but that was no bad thing.

Close grip bench
60 x 8
70 x 8
80 x 8
90 x 8

And that will do.

Been doing a bit of thinking today about post comp plans and I have a few ideas pencilled in. Ran them by Dave tonight and he broadly agreed which is good. I may just run them by the physio next time I seem him to see if he has any suggestions to fine tune them. Still a month to go so no rush, I have the basics fixed in my head, now it's time to shove them to the back and just ponder the fine tuning without realizing that I am even doing it. Knee cheerfulness is at an all time high and that is the basis of pretty much everything from here on in.

I doubt if I ever will, but if I do I will happily share. What would interest me would be to see if he removes them if spoken to by a stranger. By all accounts they teach this in the Army, should you meet someone while you are wearing sunglasses you must take them off immediately, it is a huge mistake to deny said stranger a view of your eyes. I believe the American police banned mirrored sunglasses for the same reason.

Filled up on the way home, 368.0 miles and it took 25 quids worth, that is 18.95 litres at 131.9p per litre, that is 4.17 gallons which is 88.25 miles per gallon. I like the hot weather a bit more now.

I disagree. You have the tits of a goddess, a fanny like a mouse's ear and an 'arris like a rabbit's nostril, may be a tad unusual, but that is phucking praise. How could any woman not like that ?

I randomly selected a page of your journal and found it very enjoyable. Keep up the good work

It's a Mini one diesel, three door hatchback, 95hp.

It ain't fast but it is frugal, especially in this weather
