In just under 3 weeks I will be moving house and will live very close to the gym. This means my commute to the gym will be reduced from about 45 minutes to about 5 minutes. This coincides with one of the biggest overhauls in who I am to date. Basically what I think I will do with regards to training is disregard "competitive" powerlifting its self for a while and do more general strength training and getting jacked exercises. Living so close to the gym, I will be able to not only train more but also be a lot more flexible with schedule which is good since I now have other things going on than just lifting.

In other news, I bought a single bass pedal which as far as I am concerned is the drumming alternative to beltless training, which incidentally I am also doing.

Last weekend I got bitten by a mosquito and the bite (which is on my calf) has got infected and swollen up quite a lot. It hurts to stand. I have been to the doctors and got some antibiotics. I hope it gets better soon because on Thursday I am going on a hippy expedition round Herefordshire and surrounding area.

I'll give the other two a listen.

I was going to say Jojo has an awesome dvd for bass drum technique. Did you start off drumming with a double pedal?

I started drumming when I was 9 using a single pedal. Ive been using a double pedal on and off (mainly on) since I started getting into metal around the age of 12, though I never got even slightly good at using it. In recent years my taste in music has taken a huge turn for the stoner/psychadelic and I bought a Jojo Mayer signature single bass pedal last week. I have totally minimised my kit and want to focus on actually being a better drummer rather than having lots of stuff.

Tonight we are having our first band practice for about a month since we recorded our EP (with me using a double pedal and more cymbals) so it will be a challenge to see if I can make it sound as good or better with less equipment. I have been working on lots of new techniques so fingers crossed.
