It would probably see more u90's competing at u105 and more u105's at u120.

Why would the introduction of a U120 cause more U90s to move to U105? surely if the U90s wanted to do a U105 comp they would anyway regardless of the fact there is a U120 cat? (surely the U105 weights/events wouldnt change)

I personally think it would see a lot of 120 to 140 guys dropping some flab, getting in better shape and enjoying comps more

if it helped 105s move up, bonus

i was taking this angle after my current weight gain fun.

if your sitting at 140-150... your either got a large amount of muscle and therefore would be able to mix it with the big boys... or your holding 30+ extra kilos of useless fat that you would be better off loosing.

it would stop me and others in my position bulking a silly amount in an attempt to get strong enough to compete in opens.

Yes - but is it a good thing for the u105 scene? I'm not sure?

Not really a problem I think. You could even run them side by side

I now disagree with my inters suggestion and agree with all who say same day weigh in etc above

I don't see u90's suddenly changing weight class all I mean is if the u120 was made then if some of the bigger u105's (i.e. the guys who are naturally 110kg+) decided to compete at u120 it would open more space in the u105's. If that makes any sense.

oui, but we have no other option than to reach for the calories to get to the heavy heavy weights.

I honestly think guys 115+ should man the f**k up, get stronger and faster, and put on some more weight if needed

Further dilution, for a sport growing, and only really still in its infancy in the UK, is not needed

You talk about open comps being super heavy, with 420 yokes.....well for example, CoC 105 had 380, which is roughly the equivalent, given the differing bodyweights

All national comps are heavy...some move fast with implements, some slow, and some not at all. If you're in the latter two categories, you need to get stronger, its as simple as that (no matter what weight cat you be in)

Should there be a weightlifting style calculation where a coach says

'drew your 5'6" you compete in the 73's'

'Martin your 6'2" your a 120'

Etc

(a note for the stupid people, I'm been silly)

I never really understood the diluting of sport thing, why would it exactly?

Lets take PL for example...endless classes, endless age cats

You compete in your national comp, and there is two f**king guys in you weight & age class....wahooooo! I'd rather not bother!

Is this not already happening to some extent at bodypower with a open and heavy open class?

Is it f**k! The recent UKSC qual I competed in

5 reps won axle
8 won squat
pull was for max
5 of 8 finished farmers rapidly
medley was done a bit by some, more by others, and mostly completed by a few
hercules hold...winner got 1min+....last was 30secs+

How the f**k that is get anything like PL is beyond me

If you're only strong enough to do one rep on each event, shuffle the moving events a few metres, you need to get stronger, its as simple as that
