Nice pressing, RM does work. Are you going to use it for squatting too? If you stick with it you will see good improvement, I did ti but got bored just over half way through - still my squat has gone up so not all bad!!!

I was going to run it for squatting but got told to leave it till my squat technique on the possible PB thread. Do you reckon it would be worth running it? I'm now in the position to squat regularly so i'm hoping my squat will go up and my form will be a lot better.

Personally I'd just run, cos there's lots of volume in it with relatively low weights to stasrt with and this shoudl hone your technique! Again you can always do more warm ups with lighter weitghts to a box to get your depth right

I'll go for it then mate Happy I was looking forward to giving it a try anyway and got it all written out so now that wouldn't have been a massive waste of time Grin thanks for the help and advice, I will definitely be factoring in box squats.

I've got an excel spreadsheet that works it all out for you for bench, overhead, squat and deadlift, I'll send you a copy if you want (dead basic like but does trick)

Squats -

After having my squat technique dissected on the possible PB thread and getting an abundance of tips and advice (thank you very much good people) I decided to stop trying to be billy big bo***cks and go for numbers beyond my very poor squatting capabilities and go to back to basics working on my piss poor form and attempting to get more flexible, I'm going to be a gymnast but would like to be more flexible than an arthritic pensioner which seems to be level right about now. I decided to stick with the Russian masters style plan but adding in tips that I had been given on said PB thread. So without further ado here is how tonight's session went.

Warm Up

60kg x 10 Extended pause in the hole on each rep to try stretch out and gain extra flexibility ( a tip courtesy of Ursus Happy )
80kg x 8 same again

Working Sets
100kg x 3
115kg x 2
135kg x 2
135kg x 2
135kg x 2
135kg x 2
135kg x 2
135kg x 2

With every rep I really tried to concentrate on everything that I had learnt, legs wider to stance to incorporate my rotund belly, keep the elbows pointing south and pinched in more, chest out and head up, slower descent, trying not to roll onto my big toes while keeping my back straighter and more upright, do my belt tighter. I felt a lot more comfortable in the beginning but towards the end my form did start to break down.

Extended Paused Squats -

Using Ursus's advice of sitting and bobbing in the hole to get used to depth and to improve my flexibility. Have to say with each one it felt like I was sitting deeper but this could just be my wishfully thinking imagination, will have to check the video.

100kg x 3
100kg x 3

Box Squats -

Threw these in courtesy of Chaos and must say I found them rather pleasant if not a little strenuous due to at this point my quads screaming at me!

100kg x 5
100kg x 5
100kg x 5

Leg Extensions -

65kg x 5
100kg x 2

Legs were shot at this point so called it a day.

This is by far the most I have ever squatted in one session but I loved every minute of it Grin My form is far from perfect, I'm still leaning forward too much due to lower back weakness I think, my hips and ankles are tight but everything seemed a little bit better. I have started to foam roller my IT band, calves and various other things that youtube told me would help with my hip and ankle inflexibility aswell as various other stretches. Anyway its a start and with any luck i'm going in the right but here is where I probably told that I am a fat, fool and am in no better position than I was last week, if that is the case then so be it, I would rather know the truth than live in this blissful ignorance that I can squat so do your worse Sugdenites and let me know of my folly if there has been so.

The video will follow but is taking an age to upload!

55kg I think but they haven't got a massive amount of weight plates, Hamiltons is a good gym but your tied to a 12 month contract.
