Anyone learned a new language via audio CD?

I'd like to know this as well. I talk to a lot of people who can speak multiple languages and always feel like the ignorant Englishman who can't say more than a few words in any other language.

I didn't get the audio CD with it but I did learn the alphabet, basics etc. I've been told my accent is spot on too so goes to show you don't need the CD to be any good (although it may help). I learnt Polish just by being around a bunch of Polish girls, and kept my memory fresh by having basic conversations with other people of the same nationality.

I think growing up speaking two languages will definitely be an advantage as I seem to pick up other languages fairly easily.

To get the real basics of any language you need to know at least the main 2-3000 words that are used in most day-to-day conversations. Once you get those down and can understand them being spoken and in sentences, you will be on the road to learning the chosen language.

I know a few languages already but figure it'd be a better use of my time, at the moment I'm learning all of the words to every Johnny Cash song. Not a bad use of time either!
