Goddammit and I keep failing 125! I knock myself sick. Although I did enjoy the bit where that guy had to keep doing a supprised face to the camera

What makes young people choose "powerlifting" over weightlifting out of interest

sexyness?
ease of being taught by coaches over the olympic lifts?

There is a vid on the 'tube of her coaches talking about why they directed her at powerlifting rather than WL. They mention that WL is super competitive, athletes have an extremely short career and often end up with multiple injuries/worn out joints.

It looks like she is having a lot of fun what she is doing anyhow.

is she too young to pass comments on how hot she looks ? I kinda fear for her with all that testosterone (litrally) flying around !!

on the lifting side , its easy to forget how heavy thats is as she makes it look easy !

Maybe they have seen a competition and the ridiculous weightlighting "rising bar" rule where competions are extended by several hours because of the daftest rule in the history of the world.
I once went to watch handsome Jeff lift in a comp in Yorkshire, we all reckoned he would lift about two and timed our arrival accordingly. Because of the endless fannying around caused by the rising bar rule he actually stepped onto the platform at around 6:15. The comp, which should have been over by three rumbled on until gone eight o' clock. The last lifters being watched by thier lifts home, close friends and several rows of empty chairs.
That was the last time I watched Jeff lift, I haven't been able to spare the time since.
I once spotted and loaded at a European Juniors comp and we did ten squatters, three lifts each in thirty minutes, that one per minute, if we had the rising bar rule that would have taken the best part of two hours.
If the rule works well it doesn't add much but if it doesn't it drags stuff out for hoouurrs. yet no-one has the wit to change it.

what is the rising bar rule?

The weight on the bar never decreases so if your first attempt is 200 and your second is 202.5 then you might have to do the attempts straight after each other instead of everyone doing their first attempt and then everyone doing their second.

spose it saves time but is incredibly unfair for people lifting within small increments.

i dont think it does because you have a minute to do your lift except when you follow yourself, then you have two minutes.

It is better to watch as you see all the big lifts consecutively instead of dropping 25kg to see someone in last place, with oly lifting it's more applicable as you could recover more in a couple of minutes from a snatch or c+j than a deadlift.
