Try this one.

Rack of pork loin ribs or bone-in shoulder - divide so as to fit in the slow cooker (e.g. cut rack into 3 pieces)
Pour in about half a bottle of BBQ sauce
Pour coca cola over until everything is just about covered

Give it a bit of a stir and cook on low for six hours. Easy-peasy pulled pork

I put a load of beef in at half 8 last night with the intention of govong it a good 12 hours and having it for breakfast. I then accidentally fell asleep for 12 hours and woke up at half 12. It was hard to take the beef out of the slow cooker because it kept falling apart, it had the consistency of mashed potato but a bit more stringy. Some of the meat had actually turned to a jelly like substance.

It was lovely.

My boss told me you can make rice pudding or bread and butter pudding in them as well as main dishes. I have no idea why i didn't immediately quit my job and go try it.

Made a stew the other day and accidentally left it in for like 15 hours. The beef has become the sauce - literally no actual chunks of it left and it's delicious.

This is exactly what a good ragu should be - meat cooked until it is practically sauce.

You said put in two potatoes. Were they cut up small, or quite large chunks?

YES. Rick, as always, get's it.

I've never made a ragu in the slow cooker but routinely have mine on a medium heat on the hob for 5 hours. If done this way you have to keep feeding it stock (I actually use chicken stock as it adds a little sweetness to the very rich ragu).

I use smoked bacon or pancetta as part of the base for mine, but a friend makes an amazing ragu with 50/50 pork and beef mince. Pork mince is also pretty cheap.

Had one recently at Drunken Butcher made from ox cheek, oil, water, salt, pepper, and red wine (nothing else). He cooked it for three days, iirc. It was f**king mental.

Make one with lamb neck, fresh mint and some apple juice / cider (as if you were making mint jelly) with a little sugar. Give it 24 hours then add it to coarse lamb mince for the best shepherds pie you're likely to eat Happy

Bump

Made lasagne in a slow cooker. Not quite as good as oven baked but not bad as I was only ever going to portion it up and take it to work to reheat in microwave.

Recipe:
500g minced beef, 4 Cumberland sausages - skin removed and meat chopped up
Cook in a pan with onions, garlic, basil, oregano, chopped tomatoes etc, other assorted finely chopped vegetables
Layer up slow cooker with above, dry lasagne sheets then béchamel sauce or cottage cheese, then some grated cheese or sliced mozarella and repeat this till slow cooker is full. Cook on low overnight.

The resulting dish is probably a cure for something

Tried jacket spuds in a slow cooker today.

They turned out pretty well.

Pierce them a few times, wrap them in foil, leave them on low for about ten hours, unwrap, eat.
