» Rob Frampton 400kg deadlift (Go to post)11-05-2011 @ 11:48
I'm surprised no one mentioned that the plates were on a black mat that raised the barbell at least 0.567cm and therefore wasn't a full deadlift from the floor...

Keep up the good work Rob, hope to be watching you on WSM again this year

Haha also very impressive. Now I'm not taking anything away from that as 220kg at 66kg is hugely impressive and fair play, but Owen also has to train for MMA 6 times a week as well as the 4 strength sessions he get's in with us. I think if he focused on just deadlifting he could match that 220kg...

Haha he's only 5 foot 1, so it looks like a rack pull as they're 25kg plates!

Nothing amazing compared to some of the freaks I've seen on this forum but I was happy with the lifts nonetheless! No belt, straps or wraps either...any feedback is always appreciated

Here's a useful link to an article on Hack Squats:

http://www.charlespoliquin.com/ArticlesMultimedia/Articles/Art...

I've found hack squats good for hypertrophy & strength of the VMO, a muscle that is almost always under-developed. It's an isolation exercise so not a staple of every program but will help with strength levels in squats and general knee health. Also messes people up quite a bit.

It's got to be full lifts (i.e. leaving a stain on the floor) as they'll transfer more to the Olympic Lifts. You want to mimic as closely as possible the positions you'll use so a deep squat is needed. Back squat will transfer to snatch and front squat transfers to clean & jerk performance.

Here are 2 videos, the first is a compilation and the second is an MMA fighter completing a strongman medley

(Compilation)

(Medley)

If you go to my youtube page you can see the fighter 1 hour after completing the workout, still shaking!

Hopefully getting stones soon so we can host a few competitions...can't wait!
