dr_hazbun said:Yeah, I was just thinking a 200 bench would be nice.

You need to train somewhere decent to do the equipped stuff. You not going down Genesis anymore?

Get a big overhead, get even more awesome at chins, do some heavy ass weighted dips and just get massive!

Depends how bothered you are about the stongman stuff...

I'd like to get to a half decent level. I know i'll never be at Shane Jerman/James H's level, but at least do "ok" at it. I'm still gutted I failed my 2nd attempt at my competition a couple of years back, judging by the 2nd 190 attempt, 200 should've been in the tank. I bought a Katana but only wore it once, and that was a bench only competition I entered simply because it was at Genesis. I never really trained there, just went once every 6 months if I had a competition to use their bench/mono/bars.

Edit - my regular gym used to be Wood Green Weightlifting Club, where they have seen shirts etc. I'd need a regular training partner though. I could always go there once a fortnight/month to have a shirted session.

150g brie straight out of the packet. Gym, then whey followed by sausages and oats when I get back.

dr_hazbun said:With the bad knees, it may be worth focussing on building a mong bench press until you figure out what works and what doesn't.

Mabe dust the bench shirt off and work on an equipped bench PB.

Do some upper body bodybuilding and heavy overhead pressing as well. Summer is only a few months away Happy

Long term plan (after my comp next week) is
Monday - deads from floor, hams, deficit pulls, bent rows etc.
Weds - Shoulders, chest, triceps (same as it is now)
Fri - Power cleans, rack pulls from 15", strongman stuff if there's the kit available.

Too much back stuff? Should I just to shoulders and triceps on Weds, then chest/triceps on Sat?

I don't live near a powerlifting gym where my shirt would be suitable. My measly bench is one of the biggest at my silly gym, and I squat double what the next biggest squatter does (and he does 1/2 squats with his GF, she has much better tekkers than him). < That was just so you know I train in a homo gym. I might get my shoulder and close grip bench up, see if I can get a 135-140 close grip bench then put my shirt on and see if I can hit 200.

Thanks. I'm going to take my belt and knee sleeve and see if I can hit 170kg. I'll see if I can find the camera as proof that I did it (and not cutting depth/lying)

All of the above and a B12 shot up the ass. Sleep, drink hot, eat hot. Chicken soup is a universal flu remedy, I think the Jews refer to chicken soup as their number 1 medicine.

P.s. Well done a nice amount of PBage there.

I'm assuming one of two things - my motor neurons were nicely firing from the heavy singles - BOOM! Or I miscounted the weights/they were off by a mile. Or my regular bench is now more than 122.5.

P.s I just hadn't had access to the heavier dumbbells before.

Looka like I might be getting better at this strongman malarkey - just need my log to overtake my bench one day.

Training at Zone gym today - heavy dumbbells and an axle. Axle was heavy as fook, I'm pretty sure it was more than 30kg, but we'll assume it was 30kg

Belt clean then press rest. Sleeves on for 70s and over
Axle x C P P
50KG X C P P
60KG X C P P
70KG X C P P
80KG X C P P
90KG X C P C F < Pretty sure this was more than 90kg, but whatever. The axle in competition is only 80kg, which felt ok.

Axle deadlifts for fun
130kg x 2 DOH
150kg x 2 Mixed grip from here on
160kg x 1
170kg x 0 < lack of back strength. WTF :S

DB Clean and press. Sleeves on, no belt

32.5s x 1L/1R < Had to double check the weights as it felt too light
45s x 1L/1R
55s x 1L/1R PB failed lockouts once maybe
60s x 0,0L/0,1R PB . Cleans were fine, it was a pain locking the weights out

Shoulder press machine - few fast singles, then a fail with "187.5" assuming lbs

Close grip bench
60kg x 3
80kg x 3
100kg x 1
110kg x 1
125kg x 1 paused PB Wasn't too sure if the bar was 20kg so had to ask. Everything was feeling too good to be true
130kg x 0 - just about got it off chest.

Rope extentions with "8" whatever weight that is
4x10, roll on/roll off with training partner

500kg total and a video of the bench to follow.

Edit - bo***cks! Too good to be true = I was only on 492.5, not 497.5 so now i'm on 495. STILL behind MattD

200g pasta
6 boiled eggs
Cherry tomatoes
Rocket
40g feta
30g halloumi
30g cheddar
Mayonnaise
Olive oil

Had 3 slices of bread and taramasalata plus a packet of crisps whilst I was waiting for this to cook

Not sure how much will be left over to take to work tomorrow.

As many others have been said, awesome pressing (and i'm also jealous)
» Help on bands (Go to post)06-03-2013 @ 18:04
I'd definitely go for the 41" bands which you can use for squats, then double them up if you want to deadlift/bench. Or you can run them under the bench, attaching one band through both sides of the bar (left, under bench, right). You can also do reverse band bench and deadlifts with the longer bands.
» First proper bench shirt session. (Go to post)06-03-2013 @ 17:56
Agreed, it would be illegal in competition to have the sleeves covering the elbows. If they won't go over, have a tiny bit cut then have it stitched back. I'd go index fingers on the rings to get the most stretch out of the shirt at the bottom, and therefore give more "pop" off the bottom.

Looked comfortable, though.
