Could you not use wrist straps to make a poor man's SSB to squat with frequency without aggravating your shoulder girdle?

Hamstring tendon felt bruised to the touch from Monday's antics, so skipped going heavy, but did what scares the s**t out of me. Today it was 120kg for 10+

Squat
Bar x 5

100kg x 5
120kg x 12 belted. Probably had another rep or two in the tank, but 12 rep squats are hard enough.

Front squat
Bar x 3

Leg press
Much weight x a few, but there was a bruise on my VMO which pulled so left it there

Leg curl
3 sets of 8

Glute kickbacks - a set of 8 on the leg ext, but nobody to hold the machine still

Few, but bands kept slipping

I probably won't max out any time soon seeing as my lifts are on the up. There's a powerlifting competition in Turkey but the federation is a joke. No squats. Bench, deadlift, bicep curl. They were deadlifting on the grass. One guy's ass came 10 centimetres off the bench and it got passed. I'd love to set up a federation over here though, but it's a pain in the ass getting hold of the guy who's head of the relevant federation (Weightlifting and Bodybuilding).

Finally able to bench a little

Bench 100 x 5 (3 sets)

Cable row 3 x 10

Dips 3 x 8 (another pleasing development)

Some other bits.

Will increase the sets over the next few weeks.


I was sat outside in a t-shirt last week enjoying the sunshine but this week it's cold. I had to wear a hoodie to stand outdoors. It even rained. Twice!

I'll let you know if I can think of anywhere with beaches and a decent gym.

Heaviest I've squatted since most likely April 2016. Looks like there's more in the tank. Tomorrow is actually my squat day. Happy with depth.

Newton's third law - for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. When you press, your energy is lost into the softer cushioning; when benching on a harder bench, the energy isn't lost pressing yourself downwards.

It's why cyclists have harder shoes to improve efficiency.

I'm also trying to figure out what the fk is going on too! I'm milking it as much as I can. Bench is moving nicely but deads and squats are OK. My diet is OK, but bodyweight is about 87kg.

I'm going to make liquid chalk this week hopefully BUT the bags are 20kg of chalk. Will see if anybody has a bit kicking about. 2:1 chalk:rubbing alcohol.
