Cheers Ben really good article. I've got 2 strongman comps coming up this year so fitness for strongman is my priority.

Post Edited: 24.04.2012 @ 15:59 PM by Darrenmac1988 Just wondering what guys do for cardio in the strength sport world. I'm fairly clued up when it comes to cardio fitness after spending 6 years in the Army but I have no experience when trying to add maximal strength. My squat always seems to suffer when I get back into running. My question is in the strength world what type of cardio is the best. Hill sprints? Specific event training? ( I.e. sled drag) and how many of you guys do none at all? Also my static 1RM strength seems ok but when I go for reps on a lift I seem to gas out way before my strength goes, any suggestions?

mikex101 said: i did wonder about that. ill just use more weight! lol guessing you bought the correct size? Yeah I got the correct size for my elbow measurement, it is quite tight round my upper arms though. I have to take them off between sets as its too uncomfortable. I save them for really heavy sets were added support is needed.

My elbow measurement is just into the xxl range, but im wondering if dropping the size would be of any real world benefit in increasing max overhead weights? Or do they not make that much of a difference anyway so just go for the right size? I have a pair of Thor double ply sleeves and they offer great support. They arn't overly tight so its more for support than increasing my lifts. My circus dbel went up the first time I wore them, although I struggle to get into the rack position for push press/axle press when wearing them. All in all though great piece of kit.
